  8. As a school principal, you will be responsible for reporting two primary FTE counts each year and possibly two additional FTE counts for summer programs. What you are required to report is the Weighted FTE for your school in each report period. Since there are two report periods in the 180 day school year (October & February), you should divide each total count by 2. Your assignment is to compute the first semester FTE count for the elementary school depicted below using Program Cost Factors in the current Statistical Report. You must show all of your work.

THIS IS A TK20 ASSIGNMENT and must be reported in TK20 and the regular course dropbox.

  • Service Levels 1 through 3 have been left out of the calculation on purpose to simplify the exercise. In reality they are included in the basic student count and then are credited with a set additional amount of dollars from the ESE Guaranteed Allocation.
  • On page 5 or 6 of the Statistical Report you will find a list of requirements for participation in the FEFP. I am not requiring you to report them to me but it is important that you be familiar with these requirements.

“Universal opulence extends it self to the lowest rank of the people”? Discuss.

First question. Adam Smith, Chapter 1, of the dividion of labor. P13-24

We have alrady seen how the division of labor greaty increases the produtive powers of labor wherever it is applied ( for no one would divide labor unless it increase productivity). Smith ends his first chapter with a dicsuccion of the consequences of the dividion of labor and the increase of wealth it brings, He claims, beginning onp.22, paragraph 10, that the “universal opulence” “extends iteself to the lowest rank of the people”? What do you make of his argument? What evidence does he give for believing this? Does the history of humanity from 1776 to 2015 vidicate his argument?

Read the article Adam Smith Wealth of nations and answer queston #1 and #2 (To answer quesiton #2 ,read the chapter 2   P25-30)

Which motivational theory best describes how to move your chosen company forward with the change identified? Describe the theory.

Assignment 1: Leader Motivation and a Well-Managed Change Process

Motivation theories are defined by something that increases the chance of a behavior occurring to reach a particular outcome. Organizational transformation can be addressed through the process of stages dependent upon certain motivational behaviors. In this discussion, you will choose the most appropriate motivational theories as they relate to managing change in your chosen company. Choose a company (your employer is okay) going through a change wherein the leaders and employees are resistant to the change. Discuss the motivational process of both the chief executive officer (CEO) implementing the change and the leaders and employees being persuaded to accept said change. Provide recommendations to further motivate the leaders and employees to accept said change. Be sure to include how you will measure employee motivation.

In this discussion, be sure to address the following questions:

  • What is the name of your company (unless you are using your employer), and what is the current change being resisted?
  • Why is the change being resisted?
  • What is the current motivational process of the chief executive officer (CEO) to effect the change?
  • What is the current motivational process of the leaders and employees to accept the change?
  • Which motivational theory best describes how to move your chosen company forward with the change identified? Describe the theory.
  • What recommendations do you have, as an industrial/organizational (I/O) professional, to further motivate the leaders and employees?

Based on the philosophy of Dewey, the beliefs of John Seeley Brown, and the idea that study groups are essential to success and can take place virtually, what type of online learning environment would best meet the needs of virtual study groups?Discuss.

Just needs to be a couple a paragraphs.

John Seely Brown, professor at USC, spoke at MIT and said, “We learn through our interactions with others and the world and there’s no more perfect medium for enabling this than an increasingly open and organized World Wide Web.” To learn more about his talk on “Relearning learning” please watch the video below from MIT World – a free and open site aimed at distributing intelligence to the world: Relearning Learning – Applying the Long Tail.

The Cartesian method of learning views knowledge as a substance, pedagogy as a knowledge transfer. A more social view of learning approaches knowledge as a socially constructed (others inform others) – we learn through our interactions with the world. Advocates of social learning might not be surprised then that one of the strongest determiners of success at Harvard is how fast you develop a collaborative study group. These study groups also exist virtually.

Dewey, in “Democracy and Education” warns of the dangers of informal to formal learning. He argues that students learn best in environments free from constraints and natural to the learner. Based on this notion, you might reflect on moments where you have seen counter culture classrooms with bean bags, couches, open spaces for learning where students can move freely around the room in a more relaxed manner. The educators who designed these classrooms had educational progressives like Dewey in mind.

Based on the philosophy of Dewey, the beliefs of John Seeley Brown, and the idea that study groups are essential to success and can take place virtually, what type of online learning environment would best meet the needs of virtual study groups? What would the role of the teacher be in managing and facilitating these groups?

Project Management:Identification of milestones.

Ensure that you have completed all readings for topics 1 – 7:
Assignment requirements – based on the following case study:
Case Study
A University Library holds a collection of approximately 3,000 important historical photographs and documents related to Multiculturalism in Australia. The photographs are in many different formats including paper and various sizes of negatives. The library would like to give researchers, community groups, students and the general public access to these resources but they are too fragile and historically significant to be handled, therefore they would like them to be digitized and then made available online.

The items need to be easily searchable and of sufficiently high resolution for details to be viewed.

They need to be accessible through mobile technologies in a user-friendly manner. The University also wants a way to protect the copyright of the images.

The University has requested that your consulting company complete a full project plan for approval before commencing the project. You have been appointed as the Project Manager.

Task A
As the project manager you are required to present an initial project report to the project sponsor that includes the following specific project outputs to show how you propose to implement this project:
  • Identification of milestones
  • Scope of the project
  • Schedule of the project
  • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Resource & Budget management
  • Project risk management
  • Project quality planning & management
  • Microsoft Project file(s) submission
As the project manager you may make any assumptions you think are necessary.
