Mise en scène refers to different technical elements used in making a film such as lighting and sound, both of which you have already analyzed in this course. The term also encompasses the role of actors in a film, their physical positioning and movements within the frame, as well as the different styles and types of acting.

You can classify an acting category using only one film as reference, but these categories are subject to change. Each new role helps to clarify or shift an actor’s designation. Do some actors always fall into the same category? How can actors change from category to category? Does genre have any effect on the acting styles present in a given film?

Using specific examples from your chosen film, write an initial post of at least 200 words which should

• Identify three actors from your film and classify each according to the acting category listed in your text.
• Explain your reasons for classifying the actors as you do. Use specific references to the film and pay special attention to how these decisions impacted characterization. Also, consider the impact of any realistic or stylized portrayals within the film.
• Focus on one of the actors you’ve discussed. Based on other films the actor has been in, would this actor always be placed in the same category? If so, what does this say about the category or actor? If not, what can you infer about the flexibility of these categories? Provide evidence (references from other films, including film clips and stills) to support your argument.

PART II: SHORT PROJECT

 

Directions: Prepare a graphically-rich and informative 10-slide PowerPoint Presentation based on the following scenario:

 

• You are the President of the United States and are mediating the Arab-Israeli Conflict.  The leaders of both nations have come to the United States and are spending the entire week with you at Camp David, the Presidential Retreat.  Your goal is to solve the Arab-Israeli Conflict, once and for all.
• The leaders of Israel and Palestine are both willing to concede to anything; however, Israel will not secede any land beyond what they already have; the land they current hold is theirs to keep.
• Prepare the PowerPoint presentation that you and your Cabinet would present to these two world leaders.  In your PowerPoint, you should include:

o    At least 3 viable options to solve the Arab-Israeli Conflict; be sure to clearly describe the main points of each viable option

o    1 option that you feel will solve the Conflict and reasons for such

o    Clearly outline any concessions, steps, mandates, or other aspects that each country must do in order to solve the Conflict

o    How the option/agreement would be enforced

o    Be sure to briefly highlight some of the key historical events that have shaped the Conflict

 

 

Ensure that you use at least 4 scholarly references, which may include those read for week as well as the textbook, in your PowerPoint presentation.

From the scenario, the Industrial Revolution created many changes in American society. Imagine yourself as an “average” person at the time who worked on a farm or in one of the new factories, and consider at least two advantages and two disadvantages the new industries brought to your life.

• Compare and contrast one of the men who made a fortune in the Industrial Revolution (i.e., Rockefeller, Carnegie) with someone who has made a fortune in today’s technology revolution (perhaps Steve Jobs or Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg). Areas to consider might include their socio-economic backgrounds, how they developed their business models, their charitable donations (and motivations), their treatment of workers (at all levels), and their involvement with anti-trust or other similar issues. Write a 2 page research paper on Module design.  Explain the concepts discussed in the textbook using at least one example not included in the textbook. Use at least two resources (Wikipedia sources are not permitted) and list each resource used at the end of paper in the reference list section.

Employers of both accounting and IS personnel often rank “analytical reasoning” and “writing” skills on the same priority as technical skills, and some rank them even higher. Said one recruiter at the school of one author: “I can train new employees to use our computer systems and perform the majority of the technical tasks we will require of them. What I cannot train them to do is to think analytically or logically. And what I refuse to do is to teach them to speak and write clearly and effectively—skills they should have learned in high school.” Another recruiter said it slightly differently: “Give me a technically-competent accounting or IS student who can perform AIS tasks well, and I will pay them X dollars. • Why must we have knowledge of computerized or traditional system’s objectives to study that system?
• Do roles that accountants play differ in traditional systems from their roles in computerized systems? Please discuss.

Identify a non-United States or international Macroeconomic issue that has influenced a personal (microeconomic) decision you made.
