Conduct appropriate research to identify what are the main or most common types of workplace violence. System Interoperability

 

For health care organizations in this country and around the world, the achievement of system interoperability is an ever-present aim as health information technology solutions are selected and implemented. Ideally, the technology solution that is selected will work in concert with current and evolving standards and processes. Yet there are a number of factors that can slow or even prevent altogether the achievement of system harmony and integration.

 

Prepare for this Discussion as follows:

 

• Review the main challenges to interoperability among health care systems, as described in this week’s Learning Resources.
• Select a clinical or administrative area or function in a health care setting, such as radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, ICU, admissions, or patient billing. Preferably, this will be an area in which you intend to work in the near future. Through online research, find out more about the IT standards that would be most relevant to this department or function. Identify interoperability issues that commonly arise and solutions that have been found or are being proposed.
• Consider the ways in which management can help to find solutions to these challenges.

ASSIGNMENT – Each bullet point must be answered separately using examples and peer reviewed scholarly articles or work from legitimate references.

• In the first line of your posting, identify the health care area or function you selected.
• Describe one significant impediment to achieving system interoperability within and between health care organizations.
• What is the most relevant standard(s) in your selected clinical or administrative area or function, and what are important interoperability issues that arise here? Provide a specific example that illustrates this problem in practice.
• How are these interoperability issues best addressed? What could you, as a manager in this area, do to assist in resolving the problem?

Recently, some courts and some judges have ordered punishments that “shame” defendants as a result of the crimes these defendants have committed.

• For example, people have been ordered to hold “idiot” signs and in Utah the mother of a 13-year-old girl was ordered to cut the ponytail of her daughter in order to reduce a community service requirement.

In a 2-3-page paper, using APA format, address the issue “Is Shaming Right?”

You should identify the purposes of criminal punishment, trends in punishment, and then examine whether or not shaming can punish, educate and/or rehabilitate.

Finally, you should address whether or not shaming punishments should be used in the criminal punishment process and provide support for your reasoning.

        Social Justice

     This topic calls for you to focus on some aspect of the conduct of affairs in

America which needs to be changed, or conversely, one which stands as an

excellent example of democracy. We have discussed that some of the aspects

of social justice include distributive justice, which considers questions about

the equitable distribution of wealth, privileges, and opportunitiesto all

Americans.  Another category is criminal justice which addresses issues of

equality in the arrests, trials, and sentencings across economic classes in this

nation.   Find a topic from within these broad categories  to analyze in your

paper.
