Read English Language Learners (ELLs) and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students with Disabilities . Based on research, your readings for this week, and your experiences, write a three to five page paper on best practices to be considered while assessing culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students with disabilities. Some things to consider are:
• Are the CLD child’s learning differences primarily due to cultural/linguistic variable, or to a true learning problem? How do you know?
• How long should a team wait before evaluating a CLD child? Please consider the second language acquisition process, acculturation, and/or a disability.
• What should RTI models look like so that foreground language and culture are responsive and appropriate for all students?
• Describe your collaboration process with parents who are culturally and linguistically diverse.
Support your statements with evidence from the Required Studies and your research. Cite and reference your sources in APA style, 6th edition.

At three different points in the program, we are interested in knowing your self-reflection on various statements about students, teaching, and education. You will complete this reflection survey two more times during your program. Although the survey itself is not graded, you must complete it in order to receive a grade for this course.
