Choose an emotion or human personality trait to personify.
Assign a gender to the emotion (male/female); think about the kind of person that emotion would be.
What kind of jobs or hobbies might it have, what would it look like, what kinds of foods would it like? Where would this person be if it was hanging out with friends? Who would be this persons friends be? Use other emotions to be friends. For instance, Depression’s best friend was Anger.
Write ONE paragraph, and be sure to capitalize the first letter of the qualities that you are personifying. You are using them as proper names. When you describe the quality, be sure not to use the quality itself to describe it.
Example: Anger was angry.
Sample Paragraph:
Deceit came across as a handsome, upstanding guy the first time I met him. He was tall, dark, and handsome—a real storybook kind of man. His hair was black, and as slick as he was. Those dark, penetrating eyes sparked with intensity when he turned his gaze towards you. His clothes were as sharp as a razor, and you would never catch him looking less than perfect. He worked at the used car lot across the street from the mall. He sold a lot of cars, but people soon found out that Deceit would embellish the truth to make a buck on a used car, and they never returned for a second car from him. His best friend, Arrogance, was with him more often than not. Arrogance was just the companion he needed to help him swindle his way through life. I got involved with Deceit and Arrogance for a while, but I soon found out that neither of them was to be trusted. Honesty being my first name and all, I shouldn’t have expected things to work out between me and Deceit. All it took was for me to finally see Deceit and Arrogance together! Boy did that open my eyes! I sent them both running for their lives with the ringing of Truth in their ears. I never saw them again, thank goodness. Now I spend my time with Truth and Humble, and I enjoy their company immensely
