Assignment 2: Final Project

 

Now that you are familiar with three of the approaches to qualitative analysis, coding and analyses, select one that would be best suited for the phenomena you described in Module 1. Create the final project paper. This should demonstrate your understanding of qualitative research and should be edited and revised according to feedback previously received. Describe your phenomena, the approach you have selected, develop three research questions pertaining to your phenomena, and describe why that approach would be well suited to your topic. Include details on methodology, data coding and analysis, as well as any quality, credibility or ethical issues that may be involved. Support your findings with relevant existing research.

What are some of the economic and social factors that occurred in Brazil during the last 5 years that would cause Brazil’s economy to downturn even more than it has? How about what factors have contributed to the economic downturn in Brazil between 2010 and 2015?

3.  Why is the Problem Important?

This problem is important because Brazil being the part of the BRICS, it is an economy that if it fails, it could end up causing economic instability for the world market.

Why now?

Because now in this very day, Brazil is in a situation where if they further damaged their economy it could pivot them down to a level that could very much be permanent for them, and won’t be taken as a serious country anymore. In the other hand, there is a possibility for politics to change as Dilma’s second term as president has started worse than what people predicted. Meaning that the opposition can get back to power, and make some important changes in the economy, as that was their biggest asset to Brazil when competing for presidency.

Why is the problem hard?

The problem is hard because in order to solve economic problems in the country, corruption and many other social issues that affect Brazil’s economy indirectly have to be solved. Hard is an understatement for this problem as corruption, which is the main social issue in the country, is close to imbedded in Brazilian politics.

You need to consider alternative explanations for the downturn.  Could it be global factors (such as the lingering impact of the 2008 financial crisis, commodity prices,)  does it have something to do with domestic productivity? Or new government policies?  You need to have between 3 and 5 variables.

I.                    Intro:  The introduction should contain parts 2-6 of your research proposal …an opening statement, the problem/puzzle, your research question and the identification of the factors (independent variables) which you think caused the economic decline (dependent variable).  Then you provide the reader with an overview of how you are going to organize the paper.

Thanks to the ever-increasing wireless connectivity, the boundary between work and personal life is constantly thinning. A new term “weisure” describes the increasing tendency to continue to work during leisure time (Patterson, 2009). Examples include reading work e-mail while spending time with the family and answering work-related cell phone calls during a leisure outing. This trend, according to Patterson, is partly due to the increasing enjoyment of work but also due to the difficulty faced in establishing clear boundaries between work and leisure time. This difficulty is magnified by the increase in the average number of hours in the workweek for many in the workforce and multiple roles. Many are parents, spouses, partners, employees, and caregivers to elderly parents and also engaged in continued education.

Whether you decide to enter the workforce directly upon graduation or attend graduate school, you will be faced with the challenge of juggling multiple roles and maintaining a balance. You will also be attempting to prove yourself as a new employee or as a new graduate student. The temptation to overwork will be great. However, it can have ethical implications, especially if you work in the psychology field. The stress you face may impair your effectiveness, leading to ethical ramifications (Barnett, Baker, Elman, & Schoener, 2007).

Using the Argosy University online library resources, research work–life balance. You may want to use some or all of the following search terms: work–life balance, job satisfaction, burnout, weisure, overworked, and self-care.

Your task is to evaluate the outcomes of any public policy of your choice (e.g. crime reduction, education, reducing poverty, reducing homelessness, supporting veterans, etc.) Using evaluation techniques discussed this week, discussion at least two quantitative statistics to evaluate the effectiveness of your chosen policy and then discuss at least two qualitative measures of the policy’s effectiveness. Make sure to give sources in proper APA format for the measures you use to evaluate your chosen policy.
