Clinical Research and Evidenced-Based Practice

You will identify if clinical research is the same as evidenced-based practice (EBP) or consider the obstacles to nursing research in a clinical environment.

Using the South University Online Library find research articles on clinical research and EBP.

Based on your research, respond to one of the following discussion questions.

Discussion Question 1

• How does your facility incorporate EBP in a clinical setting to promote patient outcomes? Do you have recommendations on how your facility can improve its use of EBP?

Discussion Question 2

• How can you use EBP in your practice? Discuss some impediments to creating a program of nursing research in your clinical environment.
• Identify and discuss strategies for promoting EBP in your practice.

Instructions: You are to submit a five page organizational compensation and benefits research paper on one company or organization of your choice. Your paper should include the types of compensation and benefits plans, advantages and disadvantages of the key components of the plans, and include at least one recommendation on how you would improve their current plan based upon your class readings, research, and experiences.  Here are the guidelines for the research paper:

• Five pages (Not including your title page, Abstract, and Reference page)
• Ideally 1,400 to 1,800 words (Minus the title page, Abstract, and References)
• 6^th edition APA formatting (Times New Roman, 12 font, double spaced & 1” margins)
• Abstract with Keywords
• A minimum of three references (the textbook can be a reference source)
• THIS IS TO BE ON THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY
  1. In the form of an abstract, state the company or organization you researched and identify their major benefits and compensation programs.
  2. Identify key advantages/disadvantages of their plans.
  3. Utilize at least three references to validate and support the key points in your paper.
  4. Provide a clear and concise recommendation on how to improve their current programs based upon the class readings, experiences, and forum discussions.
  5. Adhere to college writing to include 6th edition APA formatting, grammar, spelling, and writing mechanics.

Twenty years from now, the typical large business will have half the levels of management and one-third the managers of its counterpart today.

Work will be done by specialists brought together in task forces (teams) that cut across traditional departments. Coordination and control will depend largely on employees’ willingness to discipline themselves—not by Human Resources.

Please write a word paper on the importance of Teams in the Organization.  

• Explain how (you as a manager) would hire, manage, compensate and motivate teams working under your leadership in order to meet the goals of the organization and Human Resource Management.

The requirements below must be met for your paper to be accepted and graded:

• Write between 750 – 1,250 words (approximately 3 – 5 pages) using Microsoft Word in APA style, see example below.
• Use font size 12 and 1” margins.
• Include cover page and reference page.
• At least 80% of your paper must be original content/writing.
• No more than 20% of your content/information may come from references.
• Use at least three references from outside the course material, one reference must be from EBSCOhost. Text book, lectures, and other materials in the course may be used, but are not counted toward the three reference requirement.
• Cite all reference material (data, dates, graphs, quotes, paraphrased words, values, etc.) in the paper and list on a reference page in APA style.

References must come from sources such as, scholarly journals found in EBSCOhost, CNN, online newspapers such as, The Wall Street Journal, government websites, etc. Sources such as, Wikis, Yahoo Answers, eHow, blogs, etc. are not acceptable for academic writing.

Part 1

Address the following in a 1–2-page paper:

1.Choose the ethical theory that you think provides the best guidance for living an ethical life and illustrate your understanding of this theory by analyzing a concrete example of an ethical dilemma.

2.Be sure to explain and discuss any key ideas with supporting citations to the textbook and online lectures in correct APA format. For example, if you choose deontology, you should explain and discuss the categorical imperative and the Kingdom of Ends. Use this APA Citation Helper as a convenient reference for properly citing resources.

Part 2

The final graded assignment is an 8–10-page paper about the question: what is the good life? This assignment will be completed in four parts, so you may want to use section headers to organize your paper. This paper is somewhat cumulative, so you may need to review material from previous weeks to prepare for this essay. Remember to explain the theories you reference with supporting citations to the textbook and online lectures before contrasting them. You may want to use examples to illustrate your understanding of key ideas from each theory. Your paper should be formatted in APA style. Use this APA Citation Helper as a convenient reference for properly citing resources.

Address the following in your paper:

1.The Consequentialism Debate: Compare and contrast deontology and utilitarianism. Briefly discuss the differences between Bentham and Mill’s versions of utilitarianism. Discuss the political and ethical implications of utilitarianism.

2.Explain virtue ethics and care ethics and discuss how these approaches offer an alternative to the deontological and utilitarian focus on how we should act.

3.Explain the political and ethical dimension of existentialism and at least one other social philosophy that addresses discrimination on the basis of race/ethnicity, gender, class, and/or sexual identity. The explanation of existentialism should discuss the following ideas: authenticity, ambiguity, freedom, anxiety, and bad faith.

4.Choose a social justice issue. A social justice issue is one that characterizes and critiques a given practice, policy/law, and/or situation as unfair, unjust, and/or unethical. For example, you might discuss a specific example of discrimination on the basis of gender/sex, race, sexual identity, ethnicity, or religious faith; economic injustice/wage inequality; taxation; or a violation of an asserted human right, such as the right to gun ownership, healthcare, education, or freedom from undue government interference. A good topic will make claims to both political/social justice and ethics. Analyze the issue and discuss how some of the theories explained in parts 1–3 might relate to the issue. You may need to do additional research on the issue in order to complete this part of the assignment.

1-What is the difference between contractionary and expansionary monetary policy? What is the intention of each policy under a depression, recession, or robust economy? Which type of monetary policy is more appropriate today and why?

Weekly Thought Evaluations (WTEs). Each week, the instructor will ask for a 3-5 page paper on the current week’s topic. The content of the paper will respond to the topic by including a summary of the relevant chapter and/or readings and an application of that chapter’s material to the topic.

WTE 1

Today’s mainstream economists speak of “rational economic man” as the fundamental character of people, immutable across time and space, and the foundation of economic activity. Key characteristics of “rational economic man” are atomism, egoism, and rationality.

Describe each of these concepts. Then discuss whether these concepts apply across time and space, and if not, describe what the implications for today’s mainstream economic thought might be.

Essay #1- Rhetorical Analysis Essay( 2 and a half pages)

Our textbook and online readings talk in depth about the rhetorical situation:
Ethos: the writer’s authority/goodwill
Pathos: emotional appeals to the audience
Logos: logical appeals, based on reasons and evidence

Specifically, the textbook also discusses the difference between a textual analysis and a contextual analysis.One of the hallmarks of effective communication is the balance between appeals to an audience, the speaker’s identity/authority, and the actual timeliness and logic of the message being presented.

Everyone has heard stories about people losing their jobs, being arrested, or becoming famous because of what they posted on social media. These examples are the result of people understanding or MISunderstanding the audience that views the posts online.

But even those of us who use social media without ever becoming famous (or infamous) often make conscious choices to present ourselves in a certain lights. Perhaps we only post things that are very positive. Perhaps we avoid in political posts—or engage in them. Perhaps we want our selfies to be sexy, or perhaps we want them to be quirky and funny. Whatever the case, the decision to present yourself in a certain way—or the lack of intention of how one presents oneself—can have interesting effects on the way others view the messages we wish to send.

For the first essay, you will be examining how you present yourself publically as a writer every day when you use social media, email, or texting to communicate with writing and images. For this assignment, you will have to think critically about the ways you use social media, the way you present yourself, and the audience you are intending to reach.

Directions: Examine your use of one of your social media accounts (OR your use of emails/texting if you do not use social media) in order to analyze your presentation of yourself publically.

Your essay should make an argument about how effectively you’ve presented yourself to both intended and unintended audiences.

If you do not use social media, you can do an analysis of emails you’ve sent in the last month OR texts you’ve sent recently.

Prewriting/Invention:
1. Examine the account you will be analyzing. Scroll back through and start to categorize and group the various posts you’ve made or conversations you’ve had. What are some similarities you see? How do you intend for people to view you?
2. Examine the audience for your account. Some sites, like Facebook, can be locked down for privacy, while others cannot be and are extremely public. Do a google search of your own name and see what comes up. Are these posts or images that you intended to have representing who you are?
3. Look for evidence of someone misunderstanding what you posted. What might have caused that misunderstanding?

Once you compile your evidence, you will have to select an argument and then choose judiciously from the various examples to support your argument.

You can use images, as long as they are professionally incorporated—please see the Rules for Writers handbook for how to integrate illustrations appropriately. This is not required.

Essays are due online by the date in the syllabus.
