Discussion—Communication and Leadership.

Communication is the process of conveying information and meaning. Effectively, this occurs when all parties understand the message or information and its meaning. Your ability to speak, listen, read, and write will have a direct impact on the success of your career. To improve your performance and get ahead in an organization, you have to be open to feedback.

Use th your module readings to respond to the following:

  • Analyze your own skills on the job and explain if you are readily open to feedback and criticism at work. Give a recent example of how you took criticism. This example can be a positive or negative experience.
  • Based on your example, explain how you can improve your ability to accept criticism. Select two tips from the readings you can use to improve your written communication.
  • Describe your weakest communication (listening) skill on your present job. Explain how you will improve your listening ability.

Write your initial response in a minimum of 200–300 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

Social Media in Corporate Environment.

Write a 3-4 page paper on the issue of using social media in a business environment.  You may choose to address the issue from either the pro or con perspective.  You may also include references to how your current organization (or an organization you are familiar with) uses or refuses to use social media.  Keep in mind this is not about personal social media, but rather the use of social media for business purposes. In your analysis include a section on the ethical dimensions of using social media from a business perspective and specifically address one of the Jesuit Values in your ethical discussion.

Essay exodus journey, jews and Hebrews.

Question #1:

What did the Exodus mean to the Hebrew nation that ultimately followed Joshua into the Promised Land?

Consider this question carefully.  I’m not looking for a strictly literary answer!  You need to consider this on several levels – literal, spiritual, allegorical, economic…

Question #2

Along with being a record of their history as perceived by Jewish historians, the Hebrew Bible serves many other purposes.  It contains Wisdom Literature, poetry, and prose.  It also contains endless lessons for people, many of which have spread throughout the world by now.  Pretend that you are a Hebrew teacher 3000 years ago.  What lessons do you see that could be learned from the Exodus?

Discuss the primary points of disagreement between sincere and intelligent proponents .

Create an argument, improving it as much as possible, accounting for any suggestions and in light of further material you have learned in the course. If your argument is inductive, make sure that it is strong. If your argument is deductive, make sure that it is valid.

Construct what you take to be the strongest possible argument for a conclusion contrary to the one you argued. This is your counterargument. This should be based on careful thought and appropriate research.

Consider the primary points of disagreement between the point of view of your original argument and that of the counterargument.

Think about what you take to be the strongest objection to your original argument and how you might answer the objection while being fair to both sides.

In your paper,

Present a revised argument in standard form, with each premise and the conclusion on a separate line.

Present a counterargument in standard form, with each premise and the conclusion on a separate line.

Provide support for each premise of your counterargument. Clarify the meaning of the premise and supporting evidence for the premise.

Pay special attention to those premises that could be seen as controversial. Evidence may include academic research sources, supporting arguments, or other ways of demonstrating the truth of the premise (for more ideas about how to support the truth of premises take a look at the instructor guidance for this week). This section should include at least one scholarly research source.

Explain how the conclusion of the counterargument follows from its premises. [One paragraph]

Discuss the primary points of disagreement between sincere and intelligent proponents of both sides. [One to two paragraphs]

For example, you might list any premises or background assumptions on which you think such proponents would disagree and briefly state what you see as the source of the disagreement, you could give a brief explanation of any reasoning that you think each side would find objectionable, or you could do a combination of these.

Present the best objection to your original argument. Clearly indicate what part of the argument your objection is aimed at, and provide a paragraph of supporting evidence for the objection. Reference at least one scholarly research source. [One to two paragraphs]

Must be 400 to 600 words in length (not including the title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style

Marketing:Discuss.

  1. Project Closure

The decision to close a project before actual completion can happen for many different reasons. Describe a project you have been involved with, or of which you have knowledge, where one of these barriers to project success actually occurred and the project closed before completion. Is there something the project manager could have done to prevent the early termination? Respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings.

  2. Globalization and Project ManagementThe globalization of the workforce is an important trend in many industries and organizations. Not only are some project managers assigned to different countries to complete an assignment, but many virtual teams also have membership that spans different regions of the globe. Describe a project that you have been involved with, or are interested in, that may have a project team that is truly global. Determine the cultural aspects and possible conflicts of that project team, and how a successful project manager can overcome the issues. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings.

SWOT Analysis.

This week’s assignment will allow you to generate content that you will incorporate into the Market Analysis section of your Final Project. To prepare for this assignment, read Chapter 4 of the course text and the article by Simoneaux and Stroud (2011). You may also want to review the recommended article by Valentin (2001).

During the analysis stage, you consider external factors that pose possible threats to or provide opportunities for your organization and compare these factors against your HCO’s internal operation to diagnose its strengths and weaknesses. Many HCOs have found it useful to conduct a SWOT analysis. SWOT is an acronym for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Strengths and weaknesses refer to elements that are internal to the organization; opportunities and threats are external to the organization. An effective SWOT analysis helps the marketing team determine the healthcare organization’s position in a particular market place as well as the positions of its competitors. By analyzing the current market and the deficiencies of the HCO’s competitors, and by assessing the HCO’s internal strengths and weaknesses, the marketing team can reposition the organization to meet and exceed the needs of its customers.

For this assignment, you will conduct a detailed SWOT analysis of your chosen healthcare organization for your Final Project. Discuss your selected organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and possible threats.

The SWOT analysis should include the following five components:

  • Strengths – An organization’s resources and capabilities that can be used as a basis for developing a competitive advantage.
  • Weaknesses – Limitations of an organization to meet the needs of its determined customer base.
  • Opportunities – External conditions that may reveal certain new opportunities regarding profit and growth.
  • Threats – Factors or changes in the external environment that may present threats to the organization.
  • Summary/Recommendations – After conducting your SWOT analysis, write a paragraph in which you provide your recommendations to the CEO of your chosen healthcare organization. Also state how you will use this information to create a marketing plan that will ensure the following:
    • The organization’s resources are not wasted
    • Time is well spent
    • Marketing efficiently is improved

The assignment

  • Must be six to eight  double-spaced pages in length (not including the title page and references page) and formatted according to APA style
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted
  • Must use at least three scholarly sources in addition to the course text.
  • Must document all sources in APA style
  • Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA style

Diagnosing Change.

Select a Diagnostic Model that you utilize to review aspects of change activities and actions that have been taken by the companies chosen. Here we are looking at the “parts” of the companies as well as their strategies, as surmised by your research in Part 1. It is acknowledged that this information will not be complete, as you are looking at these companies as an outsider; but a thoroughly researched paper will give enough data to allow some (well-defended) assumptions on your part.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Choose one Diagnostic Model (i.e. 6-box, 7S, congruence, or etc.) to apply to the two chosen companies. Apple inc and Kodak. Choose the model which you feel best identifies and measures the relevant aspects of the organization’s performance and therefore the diagnostic choices made will affect your findings.
  2. Apply the data obtained in your research through an analysis of the appropriate chosen model. This will allow you to create a diagnosis of where each company is today (as per the criteria of the model).
  3. Create a SWOT Analysis for each of the two chosen companies change plans/programs, utilizing information obtained in the diagnosis. (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats.)
  4. Compare the two company analyses to each other and offer your perspective (value judgment) of the effectiveness of the changes made to date in each case.
  5. Identify potential areas of resistance that may occur and at least one strategy to respond to each. (This will most likely come from your Weaknesses/Threats section of your SWOT. If not, take another look at your SWOT.)
  6. Write your paper including each of the above sections, and analyses
