In this course, you will look at classical ethical theories of utilitarianism, deontology, and virtue ethics. You will also examine different perspectives on ethical issues introduced by relativism, ethical egoism, and emotivism. For this paper, you will apply these theories and perspectives to a current issue, selected from the list of issues below.

Choose one of the ethical issues from the list below to research and write about. It is recommended that you choose a topic you are familiar with or have thought about previously. For example, you might choose an issue that either worries you or enrages you; you might choose one that you have worked on; or you might choose one that relates to recent events in your community.
Women’s equality
In your paper, you will apply the ethical theories and perspectives to the issue you select. You do not have to use all six, but you should apply at least two ethical theories and at least one ethical perspective in your paper. Make sure you write primarily on ethical topics and concepts; do not get distracted by doing analyses that apply political, economic, religious, or legal perspectives. Describe, compare, and apply the ethical theories and perspectives to the topics. Explain how the theories and perspectives would analyze the issue. What are the ethical issues? Where are there breaches of ethical behavior? How could each theory help people think about what would constitute virtuous or ethical behavior?

The paper must be eight to ten pages in length (excluding title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style. You must use at least five scholarly sources from the Ashford University Library other than the textbook to support your claims. You can also use the Sociology Research Guide located in the Ashford University Library. Cite your sources within the text of your paper and on the reference page. Must be eight to ten double-spaced pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Be sure to double-space your text and use one-inch margins.

Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.
Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.

Must include a separate reference page that is formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
You must use at least five academic sources in addition to the required text. You can find academic sources in the Ashford University Library. Academic sources include peer-reviewed journal articles, research-based books, theses and dissertations, and research-based government documents.

Write a 1,050- to 1,750-word paper in which you address the following:

• Does management’s assessment of the financial condition agree with your assessment from the Financial Statements Paper Part I? Explain your response. Support your answer using trend analysis, vertical analysis, or ratio analysis.
• In the Annual Report, there are several concerns from management. Discuss these concerns, and identify other weaknesses not discussed by management. Then, recommend a course of action addressing these concerns.

This unit focuses on ethics in public policy. For this assignment you are asked to first, summarize an organizations code of ethics and then, choose or design an ethical dilemma and reflect on the ethical dilemma.

 

Part 1:

 

• Write a summary on a Code of Ethics and how it applies to public policy/policy analysis.

 

• The Code of Ethics can be from your current organization or an organization of your choosing.
• The summary should be a minimum of 200 words, APA style.

   

  Part 2:

Two critical aspects that businesses lack are effective control practices and monitoring. You have been asked by your manager of the Money Cares Investment Corporation, to outline problematic or risk areas in the company’s financial procedures. Upon reviewing the budget, you notice that there is overspending in marketing supplies, transportation, and workshop items that include hospitality items such as food and drink for the customers. Each investment specialist is given a company credit card for the above expenses but there are no policies established for monitoring. Money Cares is a small business of 8 employees: CEO, Financier, a manager, 3 investment specialists, and 2 clerical assistants.

For this assignment you must identify possible risks for the Money Cares Investment Corporation.   In establishing an investment company, you must answer the following

Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:

Write a 700- to 1,050-word essay that analyzes a workplace conflict using Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes” and Harvey’s concept “The Abilene Paradox.” Your paper should answer the following questions:

• Briefly, what is the Abilene paradox?
• Does the story “The Emperor’s New Clothes” provide a good example of the Abilene paradox? Why or why not?
• When have you experienced an Abilene paradox in your own work or personal life? Describe the situation and answer the following questions:
  • How was your own situation similar to Harvey’s description of the Abilene paradox and Andersen’s story “The Emperor’s New Clothes”?
  • What were the causes and consequences of this failure to manage agreement?
  • Could the situation have been handled differently? How? What approach may have led to a better outcome?

It is the end of a reporting period. Because there are more people than usual retiring this year, your manager has asked your accounting department to create 2 things:

• A process documentation detailing the different methods of preparing income statements, specific sections of the income statement, and how to handle the special types of income statement items

Individual Portion:

1. Select a company filing of your choice that contains a multiple-step income statement.

Use the Capella library to locate two psychology research articles: a quantitative methods article and a qualitative methods article. These do not need to be on the same topic, but if you have a research topic in mind for your proposal (see Assessment 5), you may wish to pick something similar for this assessment. Read each article carefully.
Then, in a 2–3-page assessment, address the following elements:
Summarize the research question and hypothesis, the research methods, and the overall findings.
Compare the research methodologies used in each study. In what ways are the methodologies similar? In what ways are they different? (Be sure to use the technical psychological terms we are studying.)
Describe the sample and sample size for each study. Which one used a larger sample and why? How were participants selected?
Describe the data collection process for each study. What methods were used to collect the data? Surveys? Observations? Interviews? Be specific and discuss the instruments or measures fully—what do they measure? How is the test designed?
Summarize the data analysis process for each study. How was the data analyzed? Were statistics used? Were interviews coded?
In conclusion, craft 1–2 paragraphs explaining how these two articles illustrate the main differences between quantitative and qualitative research.
