Native Americans .

Prepare: Read Chapter 7 of the textbook. Find a primary source from the 1920s that is related to the group that you chose for your Final Project and that you can use in your Final Project. You may use one of the primary sources listed this week, or you may find your own.Watch the Credibility: Critical Thinking video, and then use the Library of Congress Primary Source Analysis Tool to help you think about and understand your primary source.

*Note: Remember that a primary source is an artifact or document created at the time of an event or by someone who personally witnessed the event. Please review the handouts, Types of Sources and Primary Sources.

Reflect: The 1920s was a decade of significant social change and social conflict. Consider the sources of social change that occurred in the 1920s, how those changes affected the group that you chose for your Final Project, and what long-term effect those changes had. Reflect on how the event represented in your primary source relates to the larger social transformations going on. Think back on the video you watched, and think about the guidelines for credibility outlined in it. How credible is your primary source?

Write: Based on information from your textbook and your analysis of the primary source you chose, answer the following:

  • Why do you think the event was important, and how does it fit into the conflict and changes of the 1920s?
  • How does the event you chose relate to your Final Project topic?
  • What does the primary source you chose tell you about this topic?
  • What does it not tell you?

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. repare: Read Chapters 8 and 9 of the textbook and watch the World War II: Breadlines to Boomtimes video.

Reflect: The Great Depression and World War II represented tumultuous years for Americans. From the widespread and appalling poverty of the Great Depression to the horror and excitement of World War II, consider the ways that Americans were forced to work together for the good of each other and the nation. Think about how the experiences of these years, both the good and the bad, forever changed the Americans who lived through them. Consider the changes that the United States went through from the Great Depression through World War II. Reflect on the specific causes of the Great Depression and the New Deal programs that the Roosevelt Administration created to address each one.

Write: Based on information from your textbook and your analysis of the primary source you chose, address the following points:

  • Explain at least three causes of the Great Depression and the specific, corresponding New Deal programs meant to respond to those causes.
  • How did the societal changes of this period affect the group that you chose for your Final Project?

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Be sure to mention your chosen group in the subject line of your post. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Your references and citations must be formatted according to APA style as outlined by the Ashford Writing Center.

Discussion questions.

Discussion Question

For this week, discuss your thoughts on the following ethical dilemma: You work in HR at a major consulting firm and one of the consultants comes to you and says that he cannot in good faith take an assignment at the Philip Morris company because they make products that kill people. How would you handle the situation? Once you have posted your response, respond to at least two other students.

First response

  • Ethics are the moral principles that one person or group of people follow. Much like culture, I believe ethics are determined by the society in which we live and the norms, ideas, and beliefs of the culture that we were raised in or live in. What may be defined as unethical to one person or group may be totally acceptable to another. Judgements for ethical dilemmas are also based on personal experiences. My opinion about a situation may be slightly different from another person’s even though we share the same views about ethical behavior.

The consultant has their own personal choice to take an assignment or position at any company. I don’t mean to sound blunt, but everyone has the freedom in America to work where ever they wish. In the end, I would see if any other consultant would be willing to trade assignment with the employee so that the employee doesn’t feel like they have to go against their values. I would also try to remind the consultant of the good things that Philip Morris does; whether it be community service, donating to charitable causes, or providing thousands of jobs, overall decreasing the amount of unemployment in the area.

Second response

This seems to be an easy problem to fix. If that person feels that strongly about it, then they need to speak to their supervisor. There is a chance, depending on the supervisor, employee base, and the employee themselves, that they will simply be reassigned. However, the supervisor may tell them they have no choice in the matter, and that they will either take the assignment, or seek employment elsewhere. If the employee is unwilling or unable to complete the assigned duty, someone else is there that will. If a person’s ethics and/or morals will not allow them to complete their tasks, they need to make that known so that the quality of the work, and how it reflects on the company, is not damaged. They may also be further informed of their scope of work, and which particular area of the company they will be consulting. With a company as large as Phillip Morgan, it is possible they will not be involved in either the tobacco or tobacco support industry. Essentially, it all comes back to what that employee is willing to

Identify a current application for digital technology you believe has social, moral, and ethical implications for teachers and/or students based on your current role in education

Identify a current application for digital technology you believe has social, moral, and ethical implications for teachers and/or students based on your current role in education (e.g., grade level, content area, leadership role). If you are not currently working in an educational setting (broadly defined), please identify a context you are interested in using to frame your work. Technology is broadly defined to include anything from a piece of hardware (laptop, gaming console, tablet) to software, apps, and social media platforms.

For this assignment, you will write one paper framed to argue its point toward a particular audience. You must first decide who you are considering to be the audience of the paper. Then, do the research and write the paper as if you will be giving it to that audience. Choose one of the following:

  • Write a short policy brief that could be given to the school board, administration, or the legislature with practical recommendations.
  • Write an informational document with practical recommendations for your school’s parents.

Research the issue, identifying various perspectives on the positives and negatives of this topic. As you are researching, pay particular attention to educational implications for access, equity, social relationships, privacy laws/concerns, etc. This research serves as the foundation of ideas for the paper you will write.

Citing at least three research-based sources, write a 4- to 5-page paper (policy brief or informational document noted above) for your chosen audience that covers the following:

  • Briefly describe the issue you will discuss.
    • Explain the technology tool or application you have chosen. How do you see it related to ethical concerns for students and/or teachers?
    • Identify your chosen emphasis area for character development based on your reading from the course text (Seider, 2012).
  • Identify current research on the topic that looks at trends in this area (this might include statistics on use, frequency of negative behaviors, etc.).
    • Pay particular attention to social and moral issues that are raised as related to your chosen technology.
  • Develop a synthesis of recommendations for safe, ethical use of that particular technology application, while also supporting educational initiatives or aims of schooling.
  • Tie your recommendations back to the social, moral, and character development issues discussed in this course.
    • Consider whether you are advocating for a view of character that emphasizes moral, performance, or civic character (Seider, 2012). Ensure your perspective, as it relates to your technology issue, is evident.

Please consider your chosen audience when writing the paper. Imagine that you will use the paper to share the information with the audience in an engaging way, and write accordingly.

CIS:Digital Divide.

Paper 1:

Digital Divide

Remember, your article must contain an author and a date – general websites such as the one above are not acceptable for the blog assignments. Articles must be from the past 12 months to receive credit.

Also, each of you must use a different article so make sure no other student has used the article you wish to use (two students per article max) Each posting is time stamped so it will be clear to me who posted first.

Articles should be “quality” articles that look into the societal issues of technology in relation to the digital divide.

Paper 2:

Social Networking Privacy

Create your blog on privacy issues (not piracy!) with social networking sites. Remember, your article must contain an author and a date AND be from the past 12 months.

Also, each of you must use a different article so make sure no other student has used the article you wish to use (two students per article max) Each posting is time stamped so it will be clear to me who posted first.

Computer science:Considering the network environment, services, and solutions that are supported, develop a network security policy.

You were hired as the manager for network services at a medium-sized firm. This firm has 3 offices in 3 American cities. Recently, the firm upgraded its network environment to an infrastructure that supports converged solutions. The infrastructure now delivers voice, data, video, and wireless solutions. Upon assuming the role of network manager, you started reviewing the documentation and policies in place for the environment to ensure that everything is in place for the upcoming audit. You notice that a formal network security policy is nonexistent. You need one. The current network environment and services are listed below:

  • The environment hosts a customer services database.
  • The e-mail service is available, with each user having his or her own mailbox.
  • There is a sales team of 20 staff. They work remotely using laptops.
  • A routed voice network exists between offices.
  • Web services are available to clients on the Internet.
  • Wireless services cover public areas and conferences rooms.

Considering the network environment, services, and solutions that are supported, develop a network security policy of 3–4 pages for the environment.

  • Give consideration to each service, and recommend protection measures.
  • Risk mitigation is of extreme importance.
  • Confidentiality and integrity are important factors of network security. However, it should not affect availability
