Introduction: Provide an overview of the topic. Explain why the question is important and a brief description of the research design. State the purpose of conducting the literature review. Discuss major trends in the field. Explain how the literature review will be organized.

Body: Discuss the current status of the topic. Organize this section according to the previously mentioned themes or something similar. Discuss relationships that may exist in the literature.

Conclusion: Highlight major points discussed in the previous sections. Be sure to relate the information back to the purpose and relevance of the research.

Include a minimum of five sources. Three of the sources must be from peer-reviewed journals. Use and follow APA style for this assignment.

This assignment must be submitted in sequence (i.e., Unit II must be submitted and graded by the professor, who will provide feedback to the student before he or she can progress to the Unit IV assignment). In this essay, you will provide an overview of your approved information system and describe the characteristics of the users of the information system.  You will then focus the bulk of your essay on analyzing the features and usage of the information system, as well as the impact of the information system on the organization or individuals who use the information system.  Detailed guidance on what to include in each of these sections is provided in the template that is attached to this assignment.

Read and reflect on the case study about Trader Joe’s on page 26 of the textbook. Consider Joe Coulombe’s approach to organizational design, and analyze the effects and applications of the various organizational structures and levels of authority. Given the benefits and motivations mentioned in the case study, share an analysis of Trader Joe’s impact on employee motivation, morale, and organizational culture.

Your paper should be at least two pages in length, not including the title page or reference page. You are required to use at least your textbook as source material for your response. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations.

Discuss the history of social psychology and describe the critical role this field of study has played in helping us to understand the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of individuals throughout its evolution. Which key research developments have helped to define social psychology and differentiate it from other fields of study? What theoretical constructs are inherent in social psychology principles?

Assess the role of ethics in behavioral research. What are some of the ethical dilemmas that researchers face? In your response, provide at least one example of an ethical violation that occurred in a human research study and describe the methodology used (e.g., observational, correlational, experimental). What changes could have been made to improve the ethical nature of the research?

Include at least one reference in your post that is properly cited according to APA format. Respond substantively to at least two of your classmates’ posts.

The Acting Self

As Feenstra (2013) states in your textbook:

“Social psychologists are interested in who we are. We know a great deal about ourselves, and that knowledge affects how we process information and view the world around us. The self is a powerful force. The self affects how we feel, what we think we can do, and what we in fact do.” (pg. 52).

Expanding on the quotation above, describe how individuals develop a self-concept and self-schema. Discuss the cultural, social, and environmental influences on that development. In what ways does our sense of self determine how we think about others and how we interact with individuals and groups of people? What is the significance of the acting self? In your response, be sure to address at least three of the key concepts presented in Table 2.1 of the reading.

Develop an operational plan for an organization of your choice. Read the article, “Operational Plan,” for an overview of the required elements in this type of plan. Create a fictional organization that includes the name, type of business, size of organization, and the product or service that the organization offers. The paper must be between 6-8 pages in length and include five scholarly sources, in addition to the text. Your paper must:

1. Develop an organizational chart for the proposed organization.

You are the head of corporate communications at Johnson & McKinney, a multinational bank with its corporate headquarters in Chicago’s central business district. In recent weeks, FBI field agents in Chicago have gathered intelligence that foreign militants are planning some type of terrorist activity in an unspecified urban area in the Midwest.

While it is unlikely your building will be targeted, it is one of the largest in downtown Chicago, one of the world’s largest urban areas. Therefore, government officials are recommending thorough searches of all individuals (employees, visitors, and service personnel) entering and leaving the building during and after office hours.

This will likely be an inconvenience for employees. Bags and briefcases will be checked thoroughly. Employees will be asked to empty pockets; some will undergo more thorough searches similar to those conducted in airport terminals. What recommendations can you make to help facilitate the smooth implementation of this plan? Keep in mind what we discussed about ways to organize information (Direct vs. Indirect). You must decide what information the groups NEED to know, what they shouldn’t be told, and most importantly, how the information should be presented to them to be effective.

It is your team’s responsibility to disseminate this information to all employees (create individual scenarios). Decide who needs to receive this information and how the information would best be represented in memo format. Keep in mind that you will be calling people to action, and you want them to internalize your message.

Requirements

1000 word minimum, over 4 different documents (3 memos + 1 explanation essay)
USE at least 1 indirect and 1 direct means of organization
Needs to be a series of 3 memos to Johnson and McKinney employees/customers. Your memos should cater to specific audiences (i.e. general staff, management, security, custodial, customers.), and a significant part of your grade will be determined by how effectively you reach that specific audience. Each of the three memos should look distinct from the other two memos (avoid the temptation to copy/paste portions of the memos).
The 4th document will be a one-page explanation of the different ethical/organizational choices you made in order to create these memos. I want you to consider 4 main areas: 1)How you chose to phrase this sensitive issue 2)What ethical issues did you need to consider 3) What organizational/formatting techniques did you consider, and why did you settle on what you ended up using 4) What did you do to address the specific needs of each audience.

This is the second part of the assignment.

Write a 85-150-word summary defining statutory law and differences between substantive law, procedural law, criminal law, civil law, and common law. Provide examples of statutory law and discuss what U.S. Constitution amendments were implemented to protect the rights of businesses and organizations. Discuss the topics you are comfortable with, the topics you struggled with, and how the weekly topics relate to application in your field.

Read the paper by Stone and colleagues (1994), paying particular attention to the use of hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance to motivate people to practice safe sex (Will include as attachment)

 

•Think of the hypocrisy paradigm, pay particular attention to how you would define and explain it, and consider ways that dissonance in hypocrisy differs from dissonance in an induced compliance paradigm.

 

•Think about how researchers test the effect of hypocrisy on behavior and how it can be measured.
