As citizens of the democratic city-state of Athens, why did Cleon and Diodotus disagree about the value and role of public debate and democracy, especially for deciding issues of foreign policy?

Write an essay in response to ONE of the following three questions:

1. As citizens of the democratic city-state of Athens, why did Cleon and Diodotus disagree about the value and role of public debate and democracy, especially for deciding issues of foreign policy?

2. Using evidence from Suetonius’ Life of Julius Caesar, explain how a Roman citizen became politically influential during the period of the Late Republic (the first century BCE).

What value do you find in the development of the logic model as part of the program evaluation process after considering the development and application of the logic model?

USE THIS BOOK FOR ALL ASSIGNMENTS IN GENERAL. McDavid, C., J., Huse, Irene, Hawthorn, L., L. R. (10/2012). Program Evaluation and Performance Measurement: An Introduction to Practice, 2nd Edition. [VitalSource Bookshelf Online].

Assignment 2:
Logic models play an important role in the development of a program evaluation and performance measure plan.
Read the articles “Logic Models: The Picture Worth Ten Thousand Words” and “The Use of Logic Models by Community-Based Initiatives” by Goldman and Schmalz (2006) and Kaplan and Garrett (2005), respectively. The articles further explore how to conduct and apply logic models. You will find the article by Goldman and Schmalz especially useful as it walks you through the creation of a logic model. Kaplan and Garrett’s article will provide valuable insight into the application of a logic model.
Tasks:
In a minimum of 200 words, respond to the following:
What value do you find in the development of the logic model as part of the program evaluation process after considering the development and application of the logic model?
What conditions within an organization or agency lead to the development of a strong logic model?
What conditions within an organization or agency make the development of a sound logic model challenging?
What steps can you take to address or overcome those challenges?

Do you believe that an evaluator can deliver and complete a valid evaluation of a program or an agency without including qualitative data? Why or why not

This module taught you that although much of the data collected in a program evaluation and performance measurement will be quantitative, it is very important that we do not overlook the value of qualitative data within this process. Fitzpatrick et al. (2004) suggested six steps in developing an evaluation design (p. 261):
Focusing the evaluation
Collecting information
Organizing information
Analyzing information
Reporting information
Administering the evaluation
For a beginner, it is important to decide whether he or she is interested in doing a descriptive or causal study. From there, one needs to become much more specific. With descriptive studies, for example, there are time-series designs, cross-sectional designs, and case studies, one type being the thick description.
Exploring data source options can be helpful for those who are considering a dissertation topic as well as students who want to know about evaluation. Many students tend to think immediately of surveys when they think about data, but gradually they will find, there are many data sources. Furthermore, while looking at sources of data, it is also useful to read about how to best collect data and under what circumstances.
After data have been collected and analyzed, the work is far from finished. The evaluator needs to think carefully about how to report it. Furthermore, planning includes determining the scope and sequence of the evaluation.
Finally, one needs to carefully plan how the evaluation is to be managed in terms of selecting personnel, making budgets, and writing formal agreements and contracts.

Compare and contrast CEA, CUA, and CBA.

This module taught you that economic evaluation has become a vital part of program evaluation over the past couple of decades as stakeholders have demanded economic efficiency in their agencies and programs. The textbook discusses three types of economic evaluation methods: the cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA), the cost-unity analysis (CUA), and the cost-benefit analysis (CBA).
Tasks:
In about 200 words, respond to the following:
Compare and contrast CEA, CUA, and CBA.
Find an article that discusses a program evaluation where at least one of these was used. Why do you think the evaluator chose this specific analysis? How were the findings from the analysis applied to the overall evaluation?
In your program evaluation plan in M5 Assignment 2 RA 2, which of these do you think would be the best fit for the social agency or human services program? Why?

Provide a topic sentence that briefly describes one strength and one weakness of one branch of our government: Executive, Legislative, or Judiciary.

Develop a detailed outline of your third main point.

  1. Branches of Government:

    2. Provide a topic sentence that recommends one option to maintain the strength and one to correct the weakness.

    1. Scholarly Support: (For assistance with your research see the Tutorials provided by the APA Style Aid, and Annotated Bibliographies
  1. Provide two credible sources in APA format to support your main points.
    1. Briefly discuss how these sources support your main points.
    2. Briefly evaluate your sources for bias, validity, and reliability.

What can go wrong when integrating the process?

At this point you have identified the organization and the deficient process, created a proposal for a new process, and determined the needed resources and your budget. You will now conduct a risk assessment based on this information. What can go wrong when integrating the process? You might consider conflicts between stakeholders. Not everyone will agree with new process. Does your organization have a change management policy or process? If not, what is the risk of proceeding with integrating the new process? Consider this and more as you perform your risk assessment.

After identifying the risks, you should provide some details on how you plan to manage that risk. For instance, if the risk is a lack of a change management system, then you could provide a strategy to effectively implement the new process without a formal system.

This paper should:

  • Be 3 to 4 pages in length.
  • Be supported by research.
  • Identify the risks associated with the new process.
  • Include a plan to overcome these risks.
  • Include an explanation as to how you plan to use your chosen management theories in order to manage the identified risks of implementing the new process.

Consider the results that different theories have and whether or not your chosen theory has the most effective approach.
