n this term paper you should demonstrate your knowledge on each topic.  Use notes from lecture, the text or any reliable source of information to answer each section of the prompt.  Your term paper should be a minimum of 10 pages double-spaced.  All term papers must be in Times New Roman/Size 12 Font with 1-Inch Margins.  Provide a minimum of 10 sources and a bibliography.

Section 1: US Government

Discuss the concept of Checks & Balances and explain how it makes government more democratic. Provide a description of each branch that includes its duties and how it checks the power of other branches.   Describe the impact of the media on the political process focusing on its role as a check on power.

Section 2: Federalism

Explain the concept of Federalism.  Describe the roles of federal, state, and local government.  Compare and Contrast Dual Federalism, Cooperative Federalism, and New Federalism including a description of the leaders and movements associated with these concepts.

Section 3: Civil Rights

Discuss two civil rights found in the Bill of Rights explaining how they have changed over time through court or public interpretation.  Explain the Process of Incorporation and the significance of the 14^th Amendment to this concept. Provide an example of the Process of Incorporation.

Section 4: Current Events

Provide an example in the news (from the last year) that is relevant to a concept discussed in this paper.  Give an explanation of why it relates to the concept.  Analyze the source of the news story; focusing on its credibility.  Include your own thoughts and opinions on the Current Event.

Assignment 2

 

For the Unit VII Assignment, you are asked to develop a recommendation to your chosen employer utilizing your findings and observations from your unit assessments throughout the course, paying special attention to the gap analysis you conducted in Unit IV

 

Prepare a detailed recommendation to your facility manager identifying what the company needs to do to bring the organization into conformance with one or more ESH management systems standards. Your paper should include all of the following details:

 

Utilize the key elements of a management systems approach to ESH, and discuss how they relate to your chosen employer. Refer to the 17 elements listed in your gap analysis. You are encouraged to list each item and describe the associated recommendation.

In the “conclusions” section of your essay, ensure you assess the facility’s leadership commitment to the project, and make some guesses in relation to the degree to with the organization will resist any such changes.

In the “conclusions” section, describe where the organization lies in relation to identification of regulatory requirements and evaluation of them and general physical site safety, and the sophistication of regulatory compliance programs at the site.

You have been asked to consider the question, “What is the most important issue or problem facing your generation.” Because we began the course with a search for issues, your first “report” should be an informative discourse on the issue you have selected.  Please write a well-organized and enlightening essay which introduces the reader to your issue/topic.  Your goal is to provide a general description of your issue which gives the basic outline of the issue, and brings the reader towards a contemplation of whatever complexities, elaborations, and refined and appropriately nuanced distinctions are necessary for really understanding your issue.

    A further agenda of your work might include an approach to these questions as well: Why is this an interesting or important topic?  What is at stake for society at large with this issue – how and why will it matter in the future?  What other important issues or topics is your issue connected with?  What are the major problems or dilemmas associated with your issue?

   Again, this First Report does not have to contain any dazzling display of economic logic.  For this particular work, you don’t have to describe in detail all the “economics” of your issue – that will come in your later writing.  Your goal at this point is merely to describe your issue and to provoke an interest in the issue in the mind of the reader.  Assume that your audience is a general public, and that, they are going to give you their attention in reading your somewhat lengthy essay.  Imagine that your reader is perhaps a person who is looking at a magazine while waiting for their flight at an airport, or is reading an online article in a somewhat relaxed fashion; so that, they are pre-committed to actually reading flowing text which is not just bullet-pointed or overly truncated.

 

   Your Study Report should be approximately a 6-8 page typed work. 1.15-spaced lines in a 12 font, with 1-inch margins.   use appropriate citation of outside sources as necessary, gathered in a bibliography at the end of the report, but these can be broadly referential.

MANAGEMENT IN A GLOBALIZED ERA PROJECT

Conduct a country study on Malaysia that includes general reviews of the country, culture, economy, government and religion with emphasis on how these areas impact the management of the human resource in that country. The project will contain approximately 35 pages plus bibliography. The project should include appropriate graphs, charts and pictures noting that the length of the paper may need to be extended if there is excessive use of graphic representations.

 

The country study should have 6 major sections

Brief history of the country (Malaysia).

1. Google earth review of major cities and landmarks.
2. Description of the economy and major influences in the commercial world.
3. Description of the culture using Hofstede’s paradigm.
4. Discussion of the implications of the culture, government and economy on Human Resource Management, (ie: Solicitation, Interview, Selection, Onboarding, Motivation, Training, Compensation and benefits, Termination, Work Week, Holidays etc.)

Answer any of the following questions in your post on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, directed by Michel Gondry, cinematography by Ellen Kuras, and include specific examples from the film.

These questions relate to material found in Chapter 6 of your textbook on Cinematography and Special Effects.

• How are special effects used in the film? To what extent? Are they appropriate to, and effective in, telling the story? Are they effective in making something look real when it isn’t?

• Keep track of camera angles other than eye-level shots. If there are high- or low-angle shots, determine whether or not they are POV shots. That is, is the high or low angle meant to represent another character’s point of view? If so, what does the angle convey about that character’s state of mind? If not, what does it convey about the person or thing in the frame?

• As you evaluate crucial scenes, pay attention to the composition of shots within the scene. Are the compositions balanced in a way that conforms to the rule of thirds, or are the elements within the frame arranged in a less “painterly” composition? In either case, try to describe how the composition contributes to the scene overall.
