Reflective Essay and Social Media Planning

Part A

In a 2-page informal reflection essay, explain how you can use presentation skills and knowledge of yourself and your goals, intentions, and current actions and activities to better address your coursework and your current job or career. Why is it important to actively think about presenting yourself, your goals, and your current situation to employers, friends, and others? How do you build on where you are now to strengthen your argument for yourself?

As you reflect in preparation for writing your essay, the following are some things to ask yourself:

• How did you use situational awareness (rapport, self-confidence, and awareness) during your presentation?
• From observing others present themselves, how did that impact your thoughts about self-awareness, reflective practice, and the need to synthesize and present both your discipline knowledge as well as your own professional capabilities?
• How did you follow up with the audience during or after the presentation?
• Why is follow-up important in any presentation situation?
• What else will you do in future situations?

Part B

Social media is an important networking resource and continues to evolve as a tool for self-presentation. Based on concepts covered in this unit, identify the kinds of information that you would want to put on a social media site for presentation of your professional capabilities.  Be sure to explain why you have chosen this set of information. How did your participation in the Unit 4 live online presentation help to solidify your views and approaches? Review the Personal Branding Playbook for further ideas.

Offenders commit crimes for different reasons. Criminological theories attempt to explain why crimes occur. For the Final Paper, you will evaluate the theoretical study of crime and crime causation by examining the crime of an offender and applying a criminological theory discussing why the offense occurred.

 

You must discuss both the offender and the crime in detail. Additionally, you must research the criminological theory to be used; discuss the theorist responsible for coining the theory, the year it was created, the premise of the theory, and how it is applicable.

 

Below is a list of offenders that were reported in the media as a result of the heinous nature of their offense. Select one of the offenders, and research their crime. You may only use scholarly sources when citing in your paper. Wikipedia is not an acceptable source.

Imagine that you have been appointed the Director of Health at the Kaluyu Memorial Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya – a for-profit hospital. The facility is also a referral hospital and receives severe cases of accidents, chronicle / communicable diseases and houses an HIV / AIDS ward. As you settle into your position, you realize that the employees always act scared as they approach their superiors. Some of the employees even deliver files and leave your office in a hurry.

As you make your routine departmental visits, you realize that there are tensions between nurses and doctors, and there is a sentiment that the nurses tend to do the majority of the work within patient care but the doctors get all the credit. You realize that the employees are always looking forward to the end of their shifts to go home. Some employees even come back to work wearing the same unwashed clothes as the previous day. Too many employees are calling in sick, and many of them give weak reasons for their tardiness.

There is also a sense that employees and nurses dominate other employees in similar positions. In meetings and conference calls some employees are always quiet and never participate. You notice that people with families tend to gather and talk quietly on breaks. The new mothers working for the hospital have to use bathrooms to pump breast milk for their infants and the refrigerators do not work well. Looking at the financial statements of the hospital, you realize that the hospital expenses are higher than the industry standard, and it makes losses year after year.

Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you:

1. Investigate the major demotivational factors at Kaluyu Memorial Hospital. Assess the level of impact that the identified factors could have on specific areas of service and business if the administration does not address the situation. Support your response with at least two (2) examples of the potential negative impact of the identified demotivational factors on the hospital.
2. Choose Maslow’s, Herzberg’s, or McClelland’s model of motivation, and argue the primary reasons why it is applicable to the Kaluyu Memorial Hospital scenario.
3. Formulate a communication system that will have the greatest impact on improving the situation, and specify the major reasons why your system will influence the employee behaviors for the better. Justify your response.
4. Use four (4) recent (within the last five [5] years) quality academic resources in this assignment.

It should be very clear to you at this point in the course that maps are valuable tools for visually displaying information. They are the primary way that geographers tell a story about some geographic phenomenon, whether it is cultural patterns, population changes, environmental processes, settlement patterns, et cetera. It is now your turn to show off your map interpretation skills! In this journal entry, you will explore the wealth of information available to you online from credible news organizations and other sources of visual information, and locate a map that you think is particularly interesting and relevant to human geography. Include the following content in your journal entry:

A link to the map, and a 1-2 sentence description of the maps source (1 point)
A short (1-2 paragraph) description of the maps topic. (1 point)
Your critique of the maps design – Is it easy to read, and why or why not? Is it visually interesting, and why or why not? Is there something about the maps design that you think should be improved? (3 points)
