Identitfy the advantages and disadvantages of developing a less stringent approach to zero wasting.

Read This statement : ” Many organizations, cities and counties have embraced a zero waste slogan while pressing for none of trhe key zero waste changes ( e.g, pay as you throw ). What solution would you propose to integrate the social media site with a CRM solution?

Assume you are designing a network infrastructure for Verbania, Inc. The company requires an efficient network that carries data, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and Power over Ethernet (PoE). It also requires the effective use of a CRM system to pull customers’ social media data for review and analysis to improve user experience and generate profits.

Which type of network topology would you recommend for the corporate backbone and the wired and wireless connections? Why do you think this would be the best choice?
Which type of cabling would you recommend? Why do you think this would be the best choice?
How will the network infrastructure accommodate remote access?
What solution would you propose to integrate the social media site with a CRM solution?
What security considerations are involved?

Would it be desirable to use some form of pay for performance in these jobs? Explain.

Answer only one of the following questions (your choice). Useful information for answering any of these questions will be found in class notes, the textbook, or online. Each of these sources will require some searching.

For each question, state whether:

a) It would be desirable to use some form of pay for performance or not.

b) What form of pay-for-performance might work (or does work) and why.

c) Whether this is a case in which the firm should not use pay-for-performance, and if so, what alternative reward might be used to motivate job performance.

In all cases, assume that some appropriate combination of valid selection, and/or training, has been done. Another way of stating this, is to assume that knowledge skill and abilities to perform the job are sufficiently high. Therefore your answer does not need to discuss how high knowledge skill and ability was obtained, or how to remedy problems with low knowledge skills and abilities.

1. Many jobs (perhaps 30% in the US economy) fit the characteristics of our model of individual simple job design. Lincoln Electric is a (World Class) company that manufacturers welding machines and welding supplies. While there are some high skill jobs at Lincoln electric, many of their jobs fit the model of individual simple job design. Lincoln electric is famous for its effective use of pay-for-performance. Briefly describe Lincoln electric’s piece rate and bonus pay-for-performance systems. What are some of the key reasons why Lincoln’s compensation system is so effective at motivating high levels of job performance? (You will easily find information on Lincoln electric and their compensation system online using Google.)

2. Many managerial and professional jobs (for example engineer, computer programmer, nurse) may be characterized as individual complex, but do not have countable products or parts analogous to those in Lincoln electric’s manufacturing operations. Is it appropriate to use some form of pay-for-performance in these jobs? What kind of pay for performance plan might work well? What other things in the human resource system would be necessary to have effective paper for performance in these jobs?

3. Some jobs in both manufacturing and service industries use teams that have the characteristics of group complex job design. (Recall the three defining characteristics of group complex jobs: Management holds team responsible for results & team holds individuals responsible for their performance; Teams are permanent; Team roles provide management within teams, and between teams). Would it be desirable to use some form of pay for performance in these jobs? What form of pay-for-performance might work? What are the advantages and especially disadvantages of this approach? If pay-for-performance is not used, then what alternatives might be available?

PNI is one of the most intriguing fields bridging the gap between allopathic and alternative medicines. On the basis of your understanding of PNI, answer the following questions:

How does the PNI complex relate to the placebo effect?
How is the autonomic nervous system (ANS) comprised of the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches similar to the Asian concept of yin and yang?
What are the neuroendocrine mechanisms underlying the effect of yoga?
How is the fight-or-flight response mediated in the autonomic nervous system?

In this part of the assignment, you will apply the knowledge and techniques of CAM models, specifically chiropractic and yoga for a selected illness. On the basis of your research and using the perspective of traditional allopathic medicine, answer the following questions:

What is the overall philosophy behind the treatment methods in yoga?
According to the treatment paradigm, what are the possible causes of the symptoms for common diseases?
What are the benefits and risks of using this method of treatment?

Do the benefits of confidential health data collection outweigh the risks? Why or why not?

The HIPAA is designed to protect the privacy of individuals’ health information. The Health Information and Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act was passed as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, in part, to strengthen the HIPAA rule and notification requirements in the case of a breach.

But information collected by various health departments, like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) is typically “confidential,” not “anonymous.”

“Confidential” denotes identifiable information linking you to the subject matter, but which will not be disclosed.

“Anonymous” refers to the existing subject matter that cannot be linked back to you.

Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research about HIPAA and the HITECH Act to find out how they protect health information of individuals. Based on your research and understanding, provide answers to the following questions:

  • What are some safeguards that you think could be put into place to reduce fear among individuals and groups who oppose identifiable health data collection?
  • Do the benefits of confidential health data collection outweigh the risks? Why or why not?
  • What, according to you, is the purpose of HITECH?
  • What are the new notification requirements? Do you feel these are sufficient? Why or why not?
  • What possible HIPAA violations could occur with portable PHI?
  • What strategies should be put into place to make sure these violations do not occur?
  • What are the requirements that a covered organization must take in order to be in compliance with HIPAA?
