Develop the event. Explain how it aligns with the firm’s mission with a definable target audience.

Event Planning

MPR events are all around us. They can be large, small, formal, or informal and can often include more than one organization. Using the company that you further developed in the Unit 3 Individual Project, plan an event that will be a good fit for it.

Part 1: Creating an Event

  • Develop the event. Explain how it aligns with the firm’s mission with a definable target audience.
  • Describe how you will link the image of the firm and the event. Keep in mind that people attend events mainly because of a connection with the theme or topic, not because of the sponsoring organization.
  • Create a presence so that the firm’s message and sponsorship will be remembered.
  • Provide a souvenir so that people will remember your event and company.

Part 1 of the Individual Project should be 3 pages in length.

Part 2: Notifying Connectors

  • Notify connectors before the event. Create a 1-page pitch to the media.
  • Write a 1-page recap of the event with quotes of attendees.

Part 2 of the Individual Project should be 2 pages in length.

Your assignment should contain a cover page, an abstract page, and a reference page in addition to the body. The body of the paper should be 5 pages, starting with a brief 1-paragraph introduction and ending with a short conclusion. The entire submission will be 8–10 pages in length.

Please submit your assignment as aWord document in APA format using the attached TEMPLATE.

Discuss the risks with the vendor that you see happening and describe your action plans.

You have finished the risk management plan and are preparing to present it to your manager and the project sponsor. Once they review and approve it, you will then present it to the stakeholders and the team. Although the project has not officially started, some upfront design work is being done by the vendor and three of the engineers. In the course of this work, you sat in on a design meeting and discovered that the vendor does not follow the documentation processes you had clearly defined as critical, because of the regulated nature of the product. Your engineers, who are not comfortable with the formal process approach the new CEO is taking, have told the vendor not to worry about the documents because they will do them at the end after they get the real work done.

You spoke with the quality manager who was hired just a couple of weeks ago. He (understandably) feels that this is the occurrence of a major risk, with project-stopping ramifications. The quality manager agreed not to immediately go to the CEO, giving you the opportunity to present the risk event to the sponsor and implement your action plan.

During the course of the design meeting, you also determined that your risk of the key engineer not being available to the project is actually occurring. Some junior engineers are doing most of the design work and are clearly struggling. Your engineers left the meeting frustrated, grumbling, and nervous about the project.

Assignment Guidelines:

Using the risk management plan you created during the group project, along with the library links, prepare an effective professional presentation of 8–12 slides with notes covering the following:

  • Briefly describe the approach that was taken to identify and assess the risks.
  • Define in detail the communication approach (audiences, frequencies, mechanisms, and exceptions) you will take to share risk updates.
  • Discuss the risks with the vendor that you see happening and describe your action plans.
  • Gain buy-in on the actions you will take with the vendors and your team.
  • Establish the escalation path you will take when you have concerns about project risks.

Your submitted assignment (140 points) must include the following:

  • An 8–12 slide PowerPoint presentation covering the topics listed in the assignment guidelines

Please refer to the following multimedia course material(s):

  • Unit 4: Techniques for Communicating Risks
  • Unit 4: Risk Reporting
  • Unit 4: Risk Reporting (2)

Please submit your assignment.

  2. Select one country you wrote about in Assignment 1 and describe the Cold War relationship that existed between the country you selected and the U.S. before the presidential doctrine was announced.
  3. Describe the relationship that currently exists between the U.S. and the country you selected in section (2) above.
  4. Describe the effect that the presidential doctrine has had on regional or global affairs since it was announced during the Cold War.
  5. Assess whether or not the presidential doctrine you wrote about in Assignment 1 doctrine had had the intended effect of altering the behavior of the country you selected in section (2) above since the doctrine was first announced.

Discuss the sustainability of that competitive advantage. How long was it sustained? How did the firm manage to sustain that advantage?

The instructions for the entire paper are below but the order is only for # 4 & 5. I will provide the other portion for you to reference.

4.What happened to cause their competitive advantage to be lost?  Be specific.

5.What happened to the firm as a result of having lost this competitive advantage?  Where are they now?

Instructions:

In this class we explore the concept of competitive advantage extensively.  For this assignment, each team will select a company that has lost its competitive advantage.  This may be a company that is still in operation (struggling or successful) or may be a firm from that past that was once successful but that is no longer in operation.

Use your strategic analysis skills to document what their competitive advantage was, how/why it was lost, and what the firm could do/could have done to prevent this or redevelop a new competitive advantage.  Each team will collaboratively write a report that will include the following:

1.High-level description of the company (or the specific business unit/division of the company you are focusing on, if applicable).  This is more important if you pick an obscure company than if you pick a well-known company.
2.What was the firm’s one-time competitive advantage?  Be very explicit about this and use specific information from our textbook and other sources to explain in detail why the capability you identify qualifies as having been a true competitive advantage.
3.Discuss the sustainability of that competitive advantage.  How long was it sustained?  How did the firm manage to sustain that advantage?
4.What happened to cause their competitive advantage to be lost?  Be specific.
5.What happened to the firm as a result of having lost this competitive advantage?  Where are they now?

What kinds of factors change the decision to centralize or decentralize authority over time in a competitive environment such as the home building supply industry?Explain.

Read the attached document regarding A Centralized Structure Transforms Home Depot.

After reading the attached, in a well-written, plagiarism free, 2-3 page paper utilizing APA format answer the following two questions:

  1. In what ways can (a) decentralizing and (b) centralizing authority help an organization like Home Depot to improve its performance?
  2. What kinds of factors change the decision to centralize or decentralize authority over time in a competitive environment such as the home building supply industry?

Analyze the design given in terms of appropriateness, assumptions, strengths and weaknesses, and threats to internal and external validity.

When choosing a research design, the design to use depends on the question you’re asking. For this Discussion, you will work a bit backwards: you will be given a design and then determine the research question that would be appropriate to the design. By looking at the design from both ends, you will learn this vital concept in more depth than if you had only approached it in one way.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Read the Campbell and Stanley text, paying particular attention to the design that your instructor has assigned you.
  • You will be assigned a design from the Campbell & Stanley text and become an expert on it for your colleagues. You do NOT need to use the assigned design for your final project.
  • Analyze the design given in terms of appropriateness, assumptions, strengths and weaknesses, and threats to internal and external validity. See the Application for more detail.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post 3- to 5-pages analysis of your assigned quantitative research design. Your analysis should include:

  • A brief description of the design and where it is most appropriately used
  • The assumptions for the design
  • The strengths and weaknesses of the design and the threats to internal and external validity

Evaluate the skills needed to keep production and morale at peak levels in professional situations.

Continue developing your Leadership Style Action Plan by evaluating the skills needed to keep production and morale at peak levels in professional situations. Complete this section of the Action Plan by including the following:

  • Begin by identifying the leadership competencies and behaviors of successful leaders.
  • Then, do an assessment of your existing leadership competencies.
  • Prepare a SWOT analysis of your leadership strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
    • List at least 1 leadership competency for S, W, O, and T.
  • Write your vision statement for success as a leader based on your SWOT analysis.
  • Write out 5 goals to help you achieve your vision.

Be sure to provide APA citation and references to support your work.

Explain what the Women’s Movement has in common with other important movements for social change, such as the Civil Rights Movement or the Labor Movement.

4.1    Which of Francis Bacon’s “Four Idols” do you find most difficult to understand? Try paraphrasing portions of Bacon’s explanation in the text, that is: explaining what he has to say using your own words to come up with relevant and contemporary examples of the kinds of “misunderstanding” he addresses to make his theories clearer.

4.2   In the first paragraph of “Non-moral Nature,” Stephen Gould asks, “If God is benevolent and the Creation displays his ‘power, wisdom, and goodness,’ then why are we surrounded with pain, suffering, and apparently senseless cruelty in the animal world.” How does this question reflect your own beliefs about the role of suffering and God’s Supreme Power in determining creation’s fate? How does this statement reflect a religious mindset? How does this quote reflect a view of someone who does not believe in God?

DQs WK 5

5.1   Of the readings which we have discussed so far in the class, which have had the most influence on the selection of your research paper topic? Explain how the views in the essays have directed your focusing the general subject of poverty in America to a more usefully narrow topic.

5.2   Many people believe that America is “The Land of Opportunity,” and that anyone can succeed if he or she just tries hard enough. Explain how you agree or disagree with this claim. Use detailed examples, public and private and personal, to support your opinion.

DQs WK6

6.1   Define “feminism.” Explain what the Women’s Movement has in common with other important movements for social change, such as the Civil Rights Movement or the Labor Movement. Discuss the issues that women lobbied to secure in America. What motives does the feminist movement share with other minorities who were without a political voice?

6.2    Choose from several of the earlier readings which relate to Virginia Woolf’s ideas about women’s place in the home, in academia and the arts, and in the business community in “Shakespeare’s Sister.” What similar or differing views do the authors hold regarding common topics? Discuss the opportunities women have today, and how this compares with Shakespeare’s Renaissance culture, as well as with Virginia Woolf’s 20th century England?

Peer Response

Both ERP and MRP are regarded as two acronyms to deal with in the alphabet soup of IT which apply to manufacturing organizations. ERP that is stands for Enterprise Resource Planning is an Information system formulated to coordinate processes, information as well as resources within a firm. Material Requirement Planning (MRP) is an information system and inventory control system used by manufacturing firms to calculate adequate levels of inventory to assure that required materials are available when needed.  Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) further evolved from MRP in order to calculate more precise manufacturing requirements of firms including shop floor control, scheduling, detailed capacity planning and such other calculations. Today’s ERP system evolved from yesterday’s manufacturing resource planning systems.  Material Resource Planning (MRPII) is a more specialized type of information system used specifically to plan the resources which are utilized in the manufacturing process of a firm and can include shop floor management, purchasing, bills of materials, quoting and work orders. ERP differs from MRP as it incorporates more features than its predecessors. Most ERP applications also have MRP abilities assembled in that incorporate work orders, quoting, bills of materials, shop floor management, materials management etc.
