Explain cultural factors incorporated into program design and rationale for inclusion.

The purpose of the Program Proposal is to synthesize what you have learned about the culture-health relationship and apply it by proposing a health promotion intervention that addresses a specific population and health issue, identifying key cultural issues involved and incorporating them in the program design. You have the option of addressing HIV/AIDS, obesity, or youth violence in a specific population (as we do in the class), or of selecting another health issue/population. The paper should be in the following format:

Health issue (3 points): Health Issue, target population and epidemiology

Population and cultural issues (7 points): Description of affected population, including cultural factors relevant to the impact of the health problem

Program (5 points): Proposed program approach and components

Incorporation of cultural issues (5 points): Explanation of cultural factors incorporated into program design and rationale for inclusion

The paper should be between 5 and 7 pages, double-spaced. Make sure to include citations and references wherever necessary, and format the references in APA style (posted on Blackboard) and listed at the end of the report under the heading of “References”. The references should not be counted in the 5 to 7 page limit.

Identify any events or developments that help explain sharp decreases or increases in your company’s stock over the period, as identified in your first graph.

Report 8 (this company is VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS INC)

This report summarizes your findings from the data presented in Report 7, and examines in depth any salient features of that data.

Audience: Think of this as a report for potential investors from a disinterested advisor. You are not trying to sell the company, rather you are giving an objective overview in the following order:

Introduce your company and give a little background about its history and performance.

Summarize how your company’s stock performed relative to the S&P 500 over the entire period, and how your company performed in the recession and recovery. Be sure to refer to the relevant graphs and/or tables explicitly. Discuss any other salient features of your company revealed in the data. You should refer to each graph and table at least once. For example, did your company stop paying dividends? If so, try to find out why. Does your company have a usually high or low Tobin’s Q value? If so, try to investigate what might be behind this measure. Identify any events or developments that help explain sharp decreases or increases in your company’s stock over the period, as identified in your first graph. You may also look at daily stock data from wrdrs site, if there was a particular news event that impacted your company’s stock. You may add a graph depicting daily stock movements to enhance your explanation.

Briefly conclude where you think this company is headed. If you dare, predict the stock return in the coming years.

We will discuss the many possible resources for this report in class. General Guidelines: Maximum length 2 pages, double spaced, with normal 12 point font, not including outside sources which should be cited in standard format. When you refer to or quote a specific reference, give enough detail to find the source in your citations. Don’t use footnotes, since this is only a short paper. For example, you may write: According to the Wall Street Journal (Sept. 24, 2011), Company X fired their chief executive office, Jane Doe, causing a sharp increase in stock price we can see in Figure 1 between September and October 2011.

Then list the Wall Street Journal article by name, date, and author in a list of your sources at the end.

Explain why the quality, productivity, and profitability are important elements in the planning process.

Create a fictional organization that includes the name, type of business, size of organization, and the product or service that the organization offers. The paper must be between 8-10 pages in length and include five scholarly sources, in addition to the text. Your paper must:

  1. Develop an organizational chart for the proposed organization.
    1. Include the title of positions and a brief description of the positions’ duties and responsibilities.
    2. Figure 7.7 on page 207 of the text provides an example of how to develop the organizational chart.
  2. Define the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
  3. Outline the basic planning process for the organization, and describes how the three levels of management influence this process.
  4. Explain why the quality, productivity, and profitability are important elements in the planning process.
  5. Evaluate the relationship between the human resource planning activities and the overall organizational strategy.
  6. Discuss the philosophy of management that will be applied to the management of the organization and how the structure of the organization will foster a positive work environment where employees will be motivated and productive.
  7. Compose the steps of control and types of controls included in the control process for the organization.

This written assignment requirement is for an examination of identity theft. Your assignment is to be submitted in APA format, using 12 point font. It is expected that, based on the nature of this topic, that a concise yet thorough analysis will take between 5-7 pages of text, in addition to your required cover page, abstract and reference page. In recent years, criminals have reached new levels of technical sophistication in an effort to steal your identity. The resulting increase in identity theft has led to a nationwide paranoia and a reallocation of criminal justice resources to address the problem.

For the purpose of this assignment, you are an identity thief. Discuss five (5) methods in which you would obtain someone’s personal information to be used later in the commission of property crimes. Once you have been successful in stealing the information, how are you going to use it to commit these crimes? What specific crimes will you commit with the newly obtained identity information, based on the elements within property crime statutes of a particular state.

What kinds of things will you need to do in the future that you are not doing now to achieve your desired positioning?Explain.

BRANDS AND BRANDING
Individual Assignment (60%): Brand ‘Me’
Due: 9th December 12 noon

For this exercise, consider your career after graduation. What kind of “brand” would you like to build for yourself? Answer the following two questions concerning brand strategy to provide some marketing perspectives.
Define the 2-3 desirable, deliverable and differentiating points-of-difference you would like to establish for yourself in your business career in the long-run, this should capture your unique brand essence and positioning. In other words, in what ways can you be unique to other top-tier Undergraduates as your career progresses? What are the 1-2 key points-of-parity you will also need to negate any possible weaknesses?
What kinds of things will you need to do in the future that you are not doing now to achieve your desired positioning?
Be critical in terms of what this approach to your career does not consider/account for and the limitations of person branding.
Brand elements to consider in writing this assignment include: brand identity, brand image, brand values, how the brand is perceived internally and externally, co-branding potential, etc.
This is a reflexive exercise and can be interpreted in many different ways but make sure you access marketing-specific journals (e.g. Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Culture) to provide theoretical support for your suggestions.
Visual analysis in the form of brand position maps or other figures are encouraged. If you wish to, you can write in the first person.
As marking is anonymous please take care not to include your name in the report.
3000 words maximum (+/- 10%), excluding references and appendices. I expect a structured essay with an introduction and conclusion. I also expect to see a title page with the course number and candidate number (not name) and an executive summary, these are not part of the word count. Where material is sourced (journals, websites) please ensure appropriate referencing is undertaken. Assignments should be submitting in Times New Roman, Size 12, with either 1.5 or 2.0 line spacing. Please use 2.54 cm margins and include page numbers.

The marking criteria is based on the generic marking criteria in your programme handbook.

Evaluate barriers to successful communication and use of language; evidence of intercultural sensitivities (if appropriate).

You should write a report of 3,000 words (maximum) which provides a critical analysis of the corporate communications function of a (for-profit) organisation of your choice, drawing on appropriate communications theory. IT SHOULD NOT BE THE SAME ORGANISATION AS YOUR PRESENTATION. Please make sure that all sources are referenced.
The report should consist of four parts:
(a) a one-page executive summary of the findings: this is included in the word count;
(b) a brief overview of the organisation and its communications functions, drawing attention to the major features that you will develop later;
(c) an analysis and evaluation of the communications of your chosen organisation, drawing on communications and/or marketing theory where appropriate;
(d) recommendations on how the organisation could improve its communications in the light of your research.

While it is for you to decide upon the content and structure of the report, you might feel it appropriate to include aspects such as:
-A brief overview of the organisation: its mission statement, goals, strategic objectives, etc.
-a communications audit or SWOT analysis of communications
-consistency of messages – or brand – conveyed across different media and extent to which communications are integrated
-communication and appropriateness of any sponsorship (if appropriate)
-communication of Corporate Social Responsibility programmes (if appropriate)
-barriers to successful communication and use of language; evidence of intercultural sensitivities (if appropriate)
-an evaluation of publications used for internal communications, marketing/PR (advertisements, leaflets, web site, social media, etc.)
-an analysis of crisis communications (plan or case study) if appropriate
-recommendations for improvement (including costings) and/or Communications Plan
Please note that these are only suggestions. A good report does not necessarily need to cover all these aspects. You will not be able to cover all aspects of corporate communications in depth. You need to decide which areas to focus on and explain why you have chosen them to be most relevant to your chosen organisation. You must include both internal and external communications, though you can choose to comment more in depth on one aspect as long as you explain why.

Explore one or more moral panics surrounding young people.

• 3000 words, submitted by Friday 18th December, using Turnitin.
• As close to the word limit as possible.

Read through all choices carefully :-
• Explore one or more moral panics surrounding young people. You may also choose to explore a relevant moral panic and
its culture not covered in the lecture, provided it is supported by some critical reading

You must do critical reading to gain a deeper understanding of your topic
• There is a range of critical reading suggested for every topic, and available via the digitised reading list. Use it!
• Good essays will use the critical reading to back up the arguments that they make.
• If you do no critical reading and use only the lecture slides, it will be difficult to obtain grades in the 60s, 70s and beyond

Remember this is an essay. It is not a report of the type you might submit for a business assignment, for example. Do not use numbered headings (1.1, 1.2 etc), diagrams or tables.
• What is needed is:
– Introduction, where you set out in brief how you are going to respond to the question
– Presentation of your response to the question, backed up by evidence drawn from lectures and especially your critical reading
– Conclusion, where you sum up your case
• There is no single correct answer – there are many different possible perspectives to take on the questions set
