This case study looks at the behavior of a circuit board process through the use of control charts. At least two control charts will need to be constructed, and from them, you will be asked to provide an assessment of what you see. A template to facilitate the construction of the control charts has been attached.You are not required to use this template; however, it will greatly facilitate the solution.

Problem Statement

Fujiyama Electronics Inc. has had difficulties with circuit boards purchased from an outside supplier. Unacceptable variability occurs between two drilled holes that are supposed to be 5 cm apart on the circuit boards. Thirty samples of four boards each were taken from shipments from the supplier. The data obtained can be found on a attached.

Guidelines

The students will complete and answer the following questions.

1. Calculate X-bar-bar, R-bar, and associated control limits using the data in the table above.
2. Create x̄ and R (average and range) control charts from the data in the table above.
3. Discuss notable out-of-control conditions displayed in the completed x̄ and R (average and range) control charts. Only consider points outside the control limits. Do not consider runs, set of points within certain zones, and so forth.
4. If the conditions you note could be defined as assignable conditions, and they are removed from the process, then what will happen to the X-bar and R control chart?
5. Remove the data related to the out-of-control points you observed from the original data, and recalculate new X-bar-bar, R-bar, and associated control limits.
6. Create new X-bar and R (average and range) control charts from your updated data.
7. Discuss how the two sets of control charts are different. What has changed?

The format of the case study should conform to the Publication Manual for the American Psychological Association (APA), 6th edition, for the title page and text. Citations and references are not required. A basic APA tutorial can be found in the Webliography, and a paper template can be found in Doc Sharing. The completed case study will be submitted to your Dropbox as an MS Word document. All graphics and charts will be a part of the Word document and submitted as a file. Documents authored in other applications, such as WordPerfect or MS Works, will not be accepted.

APA Formatting

Please provide three scholarly references.

You are an investigator with the District Attorney’s Investigation Team for a major metropolitan area. You are one of the recently hired 16 new investigators that will be sprinkled throughout the department. All 16 of you have had little time as investigators and the Chief’s concern is that you all are properly trained in issues of the exclusionary rule to avoid problems later on during investigations.   • Describe the “Exclusionary Rule” and what it is meant to protect the citizens of this country from.
    • What are the benefits of the Exclusionary Rule? Explain.
  • Identify at least two methods of demonstrative evidence which would explain the concept of “Best Evidence”. You may use scenarios to describe the theory of Best Evidence.
  • Explain to the newly appointed investigators the absolute adherence to avoiding any evidentiary issue that would result in a “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree” violation. Explain the ramifications and results of such a violation. Use at least two scenarios to demonstrate this issue.
  • Explain to the new investigators the idea behind the courts displeasure with issues like the Christian Burial Speech. What might it mean in the long run to a serious case just as it did with Brewer v. Williams.
  • Explain the types of behavior that may result in the application of the Shocking the Conscience of the Court Test. Provide at least one scenario as demonstrative instruction.
  • Provide instruction that coercion is a clear violation of the constitution. What areas are violated and what types of behavior are considered coercion.
  • What are the liabilities of the Exclusionary Rule? Explain.
    • What types of errors can occur? Explain
    • What ramifications can result from these errors? Explain.

Write a 400-600 word self-reflective “learning essay” in which you summarize and evaluate what you have learned about the global sustainability of the place (i.e., country) that you have studied over the course of this semester for the first three assignments.  The format of this learning essay should be based on that used for an “I-Search” paper.  Therefore, it should have the following three sections, each of which addresses the topics mentioned below (note: each section may be put on its own slide–i.e., you would have 3 slides for this concluding assignment):

1. The Search Story – What you already knew, what you wanted to learn, and how you went about learning it.  For our purposes, this should include the following:

• Engage the reader’s attention and interest; explain why learning more about this place was personally important for you—i.e., why was this one of the places that you chose to study for this course?
• Explain what you already knew about the place before you even started researching.
• Let readers know what you wanted/hoped to learn about the global sustainability of this place and why.
• Retrace your research steps by describing the search terms and sources you used.  In our case, this means retracing the highlights of what you did for each of the first three assignments, but it can also include what you learned from the textbook readings and class sessions that could be applied to your place of study.  Discuss things that went well and things that were challenging.

• Search Results – What you learned.
• Summarize at least 3 specific examples of the things that you learned about the global sustainability of this place that either addressed one of the topics you wanted/hoped to learn or that you simply found most interesting or important to share with others.
• Give support for each of these examples by citing at least one piece of information regarding it that you included in one of the previous assignments (e.g., a fact, figure, picture, graph, etc.).  Note: Feel free to also include information that you might have learned from our textbook or other course materials or that you have found by doing your own additional research about the place.
• In addition, you should include ONE (and only one) image to represent/illustrate each of these examples (i.e., you should include a total of 3 images).  These images may be a photograph, map, or graph.

Evolution occurs in all living organisms from the smallest bacterial cells to the most complex animals.
