A single storey supermarket is situated next to a school. It is a common occurrence that children from the school climb onto the roof of the supermarket and play on the roof. Groups of children have continued to play on the roof of the supermarket for several years. The owners of the supermarket are aware that children from the school next door frequently play on the roof and have not don anything to prevent the children from climbing the building. The supermarket building was designed by an architectural firm who were instructed to provide plans for railings surrounding the roof to prevent people from gaining access to the roof but the architects failed to include the railings in the final plans for the supermarket and the railings around the roof were never built. Recently a group of school children were playing on the roof when one child slipped from the roof as he was climbing up and has suffered serious injuries. The child, through his parents, are suing the supermarket for the child’s injuries claiming that the supermarket were negligent.

Set out the essential components of the Tort of Negligence and provide case law examples for each component and also provide possible defences that may be available to the supermarket and provide case law examples.

Is police brutality and harassment in the United States real or imagined? Reflect on the recent cases involving deaths and bodily harm of citizens—i.e., the New York police chokehold induced death of unarmed Eric Garner in Staten Island, the freeway takedown and beating of an unarmed black woman by an officer of the California Highway Patrol, the shooting death of the unarmed teenager, Mike Brown, in Ferguson, Missouri, and the most recent case out of Chicago – the fatal shooting of Laquan McDonald in October 2014. Imagine that you are a senior consultant at Practical Health Care Consulting firm. Your supervisor has instructed you to spend three (3) months at the Caring Angel Hospital to help improve the quality of care, add value to the organization, improve employee morale, design an efficient organizational chart, create a strong team environment, and create the hospital�s competitive advantage. The hospital has traditionally made losses year after year. Managerial Incentives

Henry Manne believed that companies cannot become too incompetent or corrupt, as eventually their share price would fall and they could be taken over by another firm that would get rid of incompetent management. Child Labor

Child labor is endemic in the poorer countries of the world, and for many children it is seen as way of keeping their families out of poverty. Critics point out that if the governments were to invest more in educating children, they could be more productive and create more wealth for their nation when they are older. In the meantime, multinational enterprises often secure suppliers who use children.

In your opinion, what is the best way to reduce child labor for multinational corporations? How is the phenomenon of child labor viewed from your ethical perspective? Given the ethical perspective of a particular group to which you currently belong, or previously belonged, how would child labor be viewed?
