This book prepares a teacher or instructor on how to seamlessly implement the common core standards into their curriculum and how they can better reduce the learning gap that many children face due to relocation, disabilities and other inconsistencies.
It seems like a credible resource to utilize because it is published in partner with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and is also authored and edited by a group of mathematics educator with PhD’s.
I believe this is a useful resource for my topic because it is capturing an educator’s perspective on the implementation.

This book provides a history of the implementation of common core, pros and cons, what the standards are and how to prepare.
I believe this source is credible because the author is employed a research and development company that relates directly to academics and its’ standards.
This source would be useful in providing a background on common core and why the standards have changed as well as what the standards are.

This year was the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope in 1990. Hubble
has been one of the most scientifically productive machines ever built, enabling observations of
the universe that have changed our picture of it and that very often could not have been
duplicated from the ground. Unlike most satellites, Hubble was launched into an orbit that has
allowed it to be serviced by astronauts, which has enabled it to be repaired and to benefit from
the advance of technology over its lifetime.
You will read the article: “25 Years Later, Hubble Sees Beyond Troubled Start” by Dennis
Overbye of the New York Times. Imagine that you must explain to someone who has not taken an
astronomy class in college what Hubble is, how it made it to 25 years, and why it is important.
Your job is to relate the history of Hubble in a compelling and scientifically accurate way
(you don’t want to put your friend to sleep, nor misinform her). You can focus on whatever
aspects of the story interest you, but in your monologue you must explicitly address these key
points:
• Briefly describe at least three of the setbacks and recoveries in the history of this
telescope.
• Follow one of the many links in the story to get a detailed look at one event in Hubble’s
history. Tell that story in a compelling and detailed way (~1 paragraph or more).
• Look at one of the galleries linked below. Pick a favorite image and explain it using facts
that you have learned in this course. Be sure to cite references as needed.
• A basic understanding of the size of numbers is an important part of this course. Though
Hubble was built over more than 10 years, compare the cost of Hubble to the size of the
US Federal budget in 1990. Be sure to cite references.
Your essay should be approximately 4 paragraphs in length. Though that is not a strict upper
limit, you should try to communicate the required information within this limited space.
You will be graded according to the attached rubric, which emphasizes accuracy, clarity, and
quality of writing. You will probably need to incorporate information from other sources to

CONSTRUCTING YOUR ESSAY

Remember, the focus of this essay is analysis, not simply relaying the events that happened in the story.

While it may be necessary to summarize key events, dialogue, or characters to support this analysis, avoid unnecessary plot summary. If a plot development supports a point you wish to make, a brief summary is acceptable, but remember, plot summary is no substitute for analysis.

Most of your analysis should be supported with specific, concrete examples from the text. You should also use support from outside (secondary sources) such as literary criticisms, Literary Reviews, and Literary Journals.

Diversity among individuals, as well as cultures, provides a challenge for nurses when it comes to delivering meaningful health promotion and illness prevention-based education. How do teaching principles, varied learning styles (for both nurses and patients), and teaching methodologies impact the approach to education? This assignment is a culmination of the learning gained throughout this course. The case study about Mrs. Ashland serves as a reflection of best practices in key early childhood areas for you to utilize as an example.

You will need to use powerpoint to create your ePortfolio.

Your portfolio will need to contain the following requirements:

1. Portfolio Table of Contents.
2. Cover Letter: Revise the cover letter you created in the Week Five, Discussion Two forum. Your cover letter should be one page in length.
3. Biography: Write a one-page biography to introduce yourself to potential employers. Make sure to include either a photo of yourself or some images that relate to your professional interests. This is your opportunity to let your potential employer know a little bit about who you are.
4. Model of Teaching: Review your initial response from Week One, Discussion One. Develop a revised position statement regarding what model of teaching you believe fits best with your philosophy of learning. Make sure to include why you believe this model of teaching is the best for you and your students. Add support from a scholarly source here to build credibility about the approach that you believe is best. Your model of teaching should be one page in length.
5. Developmentally Appropriate Practices: Review the feedback from Week One, Discussion Two. Develop a position statement that clearly describes your beliefs on the importance of using developmentally appropriate practices in Early Childhood Education. Your position statement should be one page in length.
6. Approaches to Curriculum: Explain how you will plan your curriculum, using your ideas from the Week Two discussions. In addition, use the feedback provided on the lesson plan rubric from your peers to revise your lesson plan from the Week Two, Discussion Two forum. Include a copy of the newly revised lesson plan. Your curriculum plan should be no longer than a page, not including the lesson plan.
7. Differentiated Common Core or Early Learning Standards Lesson Plan: Review the feedback on your Week Two assignment. Revise your Common Core or Early Learning Standards Lesson Plan. Include a copy of your newly revised lesson plan and the summary paragraph that explains the considerations you took into account when planning.
8. Parent Communication: Develop a plan for ongoing parent communication using your learning about the various forms of parent communication from Week Three, Discussion One. This plan should be one page long.
9. Classroom Organization: Describe your classroom management plan. This can simply be the poster you created for the Week Three, Discussion Two forum, or you can develop a summary of your plan. Your poster or plan should be one page in length.
10. Assessment Plan: Review the Week Four assignment feedback. Choose two of the four assessments from your Week Four assignment to revise and include in your portfolio. Your assessment plan should be two pages in length.
11. Disposition Statement: Review the Week Five, Discussion One feedback. Create your philosophy of the necessary qualities of an early childhood educator. This philosophy should be one page long and reflect your personal beliefs.
12. Plan Professional Development: Professional development plays an important role in the life of an educator. Research different methods of continuing professional development. Develop three statements of commitment as to the types of professional development you plan to engage in over the next year. At least one of your resources for professional development should be online. For each commitment, include a rationale as to why you chose this particular type of professional development and how it will help you to continue to grow as an early childhood educator. This section should be one page in length.
13. Rationale: In this section you will need to look at each component of your portfolio. In three to four sentences, reflect as to how these components demonstrate mastery of one or more of the Program Comprehensive Exam Main Topics. Use your Reflective Journal Template while developing your rationale.
14. Reference Page: Using your textbook and at least five outside scholarly sources helps to strengthen your beliefs as an educational professional.

This project, including the 12 required components, should be submitted as a document that contains the hyperlink to your ePortfolio. You are encouraged to be professional and creative with your ePortfolio. The ePortfolio should address the material using college-level writing, critical thought, and APA formatting. In addition, it should include graphics, visuals, and media, as appropriate. Contents should be designed to clearly and concisely address the material with research justification.
