Write a 10-12 page (double-spaced) paper in which you reflect on the relevance of the works of the political philosophers to current events on any topic covered in this course. The paper should include both a discussion of the thought of at least two of the philosophers covered in the course as well as your own thoughtful reflection. Students are require to have a minimum of 8 sources for the assignment. Second, the paper should contain a brief description (briefly mention the authors and the selected works) of the selected philosophers. Third, the paper should contain a detailed description of at least three components of the works of the two selected philosophers. The rest of the paper will address questions as contained in the paper topics below

The proposal will identify the social policy, summarize its history, provide basic arguments for and against the policy, and identify major voices/proponents on the issue. Use the following outline for your proposal: • Introduction of Social Policy (5 points) In this section, introduce the social policy to be examined. What is the social policy? Is it an international, federal, state, organizational or local policy/law/rule? Does the social policy aim to reduce inequalities? • Social Problem (10 points) What is the social problem the social policy is intended to address? Who is impacted by the social problem? Does the social problem have different impact on different genders, ethnicities, religions, etc.? • History of the Social Policy (10 points) What is the context under which the social policy was first developed, implemented and/or amended? Describe the social problem at the time the policy was first adopted. Has there been any change in the social problem? Has there been any change in the policy? Have the stakeholders changed? Have the proponents and opponents changed? • Pros and Cons of the Social Policy (10 points) Supporters: Who are the supporters of the social policy? What are the main reasons/arguments provided by supporters in favor of the social policy? How does this perspective take into account race, gender and social class? Opponents: Who are the opponents of the social policy? What are the main reasons/arguments provided by opponents in opposition of the social policy? How does this perspective take into account race, gender and social class?
