What are some of the issues your organization faces with regard to executive compensation? What changes in executive compensation have you seen over time that were effective or less so?

There are four question 100 word min. for each

1. Ch. 11 of Fundamentals of Human Resource Management discusses three classifications of rewards. They are intrinsic versus extrinsic rewards, financial versus nonfinancial rewards, and performance-based versus membership based rewards. What are the strengths and weaknesses associated with each type of reward? Which type of reward is most successful in the business environment and why?  Remember to use a specific workplace example to illustrate your position.

2.

Which employee benefit do you personally value the most? Why is it important for organizations to offer benefits to their employees? How do benefits positively or negatively affect an organization?  What does your organization do to make sure employees understand the value of their benefits?

3.

How does your organization balance the regular salary and the incentive?   Is there a formula?   For example, one of my former employees used a formula that 80% of the eligible employees should be able to meet the threshold for incentive compensation at least 50% of the time.

4.

What are some of the issues your organization faces with regard to executive compensation?  What changes in executive compensation have you seen over time that were effective or less so?

How can a company’s MISSION Statement determine which of these philosophies is followed?Explain.

1.How will you meet the organizational goals, while remembering to act ethical and in a manner that will meet the organizational goals.

2.What are the steps in the planning process? Which step is the most crucial? Why?

3.  There are many industries where it is mandated that some money must go back in to the community. Many professional athletes are expected to give back as part of their contracts and many businesses do it, not because they believe it is good, but because they know someone is watching.

So does it matter? Does it matter if the money hungry organization gives back to try and give an image that they believe will help them make more money?

There are many types of philosophical beliefs, however the two that I always remember are Utilitarian and Deontological.

Utilitarian: The Ends Justify the Means. I.e. it does not matter what you do as long as in the end it is good?

Deontological: The journey defines the destination. Meaning it does not matter what happens in the end, it is how you got there that matters.

In business, there is often a Utilitarian approach, which is what causes many of the issues that the text has stated about unethical behavior. Sometime, somewhere a person decided, “I can skirt the rules as long as in the end I am successful.” Whether this is right or wrong is an individual choice, but for this post.

Explain the impact on the price of the product and your decision on whether or not to buy the product.

You’ve been debating on making a purchase for yourself.  This is a product you’ve wanted for a while, but one that requires budgeting because you will be making monthly payments.

Select a product in which the demand for the product is clearly affected by the strength or weakness of the overall economy such as new homes, cars, appliances, smart phones, etc.

Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper in which you address the following:

  • Identify and define two economic indicators that reflect the strength of the economy (e.g. real GDP, unemployment rate, inflation rate, interest rate, housing starts, etc.).
  • With these economic indicators in mind, how has the economy affected the demand for and supply of your selected product over the last 2 years?
  • What was the impact on the supply of the product and the impact on the demand for the product?
  • Explain the impact on the price of the product and your decision on whether or not to buy the product.
  • Include responses to the following:
    • How might you apply what you learned about supply and demand to your work place or your understanding of the product you are considering purchasing?
    • How do the concepts of macroeconomics help you understand the factors that affect shifts in supply and demand on the price of the product

What would be some of the advantages? What would be some of the initial difficulties that may be encountered during implementation? Explain why.

This week, one of the areas you have been reading about is the importance of managing quality within an organization. Despite how efficient and low cost a business might be, if the quality of its product is low or its customer service is non-existent, it will not likely succeed in the long run. Consider what you have learned about making quality a part of the entire planning and implementation process. In particular, recall the approaches to quality improvement supported by Deming and Juran that were introduced in your reading.

To prepare for this Discussion, consider the following:

Compare and contrast the Deming and Juran approaches to quality improvement. Consult resources in addition to your textbook for more in-depth information on their philosophies of quality. If you wish, you may also do some outside reading and discuss Phillip Crosby as well.

With that in mind:

Post by Wednesday December 23, 2015 a 250-350 -word statement that addresses the following:

  • Describe one of the Deming and Juran approaches to quality improvement and how its use might affect a company.
  • What would be some of the advantages? What would be some of the initial difficulties that may be encountered during implementation? Explain why.

Discussion 2: Group Discussion: Group Case Study Project

Each week, as you consider the Crocs: Revolutionizing an Industry’s Supply Chain Model for Competitive Advantage case study, you will have two Group Project assignments to complete. One will involve a Group Discussion and the other will be an Individual Assignment. The information from both parts will be used for your final Group Case Study Project.

Read the Crocs: Revolutionizing an Industry’s Supply Chain Model for Competitive Advantage case study in your course text. (See Attachment) For your Group Discussion this week, do the following:

Post by Wednesday December 23, 2015 a 250-350 -word response that addresses the following:

  • How does Crocs assure quality planning, control, and improvement in its operations?
  • How has technology been used to improve the quality and efficiency of the company’s production process?

Support your work with specific citations from the Learning Resources. You are allowed to draw from additional sources to support your argument, but you must cite using APA standards. All quoted material must be identified, cited, and referenced per APA standards.

Considering one of the aforementioned entities, what are the differing responsibilities of the finance managers, first-line managers, and human resource managers with regard to your selected area?Explain.

Health Insurance Costs Versus Privacy

  • Computers by Design (CBD) is a small computer systems sales and service business located in the Midwest. The owners of CBD, Abigail, Megan, and Andy, are concerned about rising health care insurance costs. Abigail has researched the issue, and has learned that CBD can better control insurance costs by only hiring people who are less likely to make claims—the healthy, the fit, and the nonaddicted. She has proposed to the other owners a two-step program.
  • First, CBD would conduct preemployment health screenings, including voluntary genetic testing. It would not hire anyone who smokes or uses drugs, has any genetically linked propensity for an expensive disease, or is not physically fit.
  • The second step would be to give every employee a 12-month notice to stop using tobacco and nonprescription drugs and to submit to random, monthly testing. Employees would also be placed on a fitness and weight control plan. Professional assistance would be available at no cost to help them stop using tobacco and drugs and to help them meet weight and fitness targets. Employees who meet the goals would be allowed to stay with CBD. Those who refuse would be given a severance package and discharged.

Post a 750-word response that answers the following questions:

  • What are the legal issues involved here? Which of the measures proposed by Abigail are legal, and which are not? Explain the legal issues involved and reference specific pages from your readings to support your conclusions.
  • To what extent is an industry you are familiar with unionized and engaged in collective bargaining? Is the industry comprised of nonunion employees, unionized and nonunionized employees, or unionized employees? Explain why the industry does or does not have collective bargaining, and discuss what trends might tend to change the current situation in the near future. Be sure to incorporate both legal principles and relevant labor economics facts in your response. Provide references as appropriate.
  • Select one of the three areas of employment law to answer the question that follows:
    • Occupational Safety and Health
    • Employee Retirement Income Security Act
    • Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Considering one of the aforementioned entities, what are the differing responsibilities of the finance managers, first-line managers, and human resource managers with regard to your selected area?

Your paper will need to include a title page, a reference page, and in-text citations properly formatted according to the APA style guide. Also, your content should be eight to ten pages, which does not include your reference or title page. You will need to include at least five scholarly sources from the Ashford Library in your paper as part of your research to support your analysis.

Choose one body system (Muscular, skeletal, integumentary, or nervous) and answer all questions for your choice. Then, write a summary paragraph (of at least 200 words) identifying how this system supports one other body system to help maintain homeostasis. For example, What is the relationship between the muscular system and the skeletal system? Post the body systems combination you chose on Day 1 of this week. There is a maximum of four students per body system combination. For example, only four students can choose the body system combination of muscular and skeletal.

Your initial post must be a minimum of 500 words. In addition to the textbook, utilize a minimum of two scholarly sources to support your points. Cite and reference your sources in APA format as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Your initial post must:

Describe the anatomy and basic physiology of the system.
Articulate what makes the system unique/primary focus.
Include an interesting fact about the system, that is not in the textbook. (For example, the heart can secrete hormones but it is not part of the Endocrine system)
Choose a common disorder of the system and describe the:

disease/condition
symptoms and signs
etiology
common tests/procedures for confirming the condition.
treatment options
prognosis
Include a summary paragraph (of at least 200 words) identifying how this system supports one other body system to help maintain homeostasis. For example, what is the relationship between the muscular system and the skeletal system?

Describe what you observed from Ms. Wessling’s video that represents each of these strategies.

After viewing the videos Improving Practice with Sarah Brown Wessling and  Embedded Formative Assessments,  and after reading Releasing Responsibility by Fisher and Frey, discuss the following:

Part 1

Sarah Brown Wessling remarks; “It is not about ways of delivering content as much as it is about ways of getting students to become thinkers; ways for students to be more autonomous.”

  • What evidence did you observe in Ms Wessling’s video that her students were becoming thinkers?
  • How is this an example of the teacher assessing FOR learning?

Part 2

In Dylan William’s video on embedded formative assessments, he mentions five strategies for teachers to meet students’ learning needs more effectively.

  • Describe what you observed from Ms. Wessling’s video that represents each of these strategies.
  • Were there any that you did not observe?
  • What evidence was there of Ms. Wessling’s students examining their own thinking?
  • What evidence did you find to suggest she designed her instruction to meet instructional learning objectives in several areas of development (Think Bloom’s)?
  • What did you see from her video that you’d like to try (remember best practices are transferrable across grade and age levels)?

Based on the ethical principles that you studied this week, as a nurse, which ethical principle do you think is most important? Why?

To support your work, use your course and text readings and also use outside sources. As in all assignments, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format.

Identify and describe at least three critical ethical issues affecting today’s nursing professionals.

When nurses exceed their scope of practice, they violate their nursing license and may be performing tasks that are reserved by statute for another healthcare professional, such as a physician (Fremgen, 2012). Due to the shortage of nurses, their responsibilities are ever increasing, which may lead to actions that result in malpractice. However, nurses have not generally been involved in lawsuits for exceeding their scope of practice or violating their license, unless they also acted negligently (Fremgen, 2012).

Researching Louisiana nursing laws and regulations. Based on the knowledge gained from your readings, respond to the following questions with examples:

When should a nurse question the actions of a doctor?

When can a nursing license be suspended or revoked?

Part II: Ethical Issues in Nursing

By using the Internet and the South University Online Library resources, review scholarly articles and respond to the following:

Identify and describe at least three critical ethical issues affecting today’s nursing professionals.

As a health care professional, explain the ways you will address these issues.
