Research Proposal

A research essay achieves several goals, but the most important are inquiring, advancing knowledge, and supporting arguments. The final essay for this class will ask you to create a narrow research question, develop a thesis, and support your thesis with credible research. It will also ask you to be thorough. Remember, you discussing a cause and effect relationship.

This first assignment asks you to create a proposal, refine your research questions, and conduct preliminary research.

I. Topic Introduction (approximately one page)

e. Where do you think you might run in to roadblocks in your research process? How will you overcome these challenges?
f. What changes did you make throughout the initial research process in your topic or questions?

Defense counsel has made a motion to preclude evidence of the Defendant’s DWI conviction because it is a misdemeanor. We need to
submit a brief to the court in opposition to the Defendant’s motion.
In our brief we need to argue why the Defendant’s DWI conviction
is relevant and admissible. With all of the other trial preparation to be done, the Managing Partner has assigned you this task.

Prepare a trial brief to the court in which you make our case for
admission of the Defendant’s DWI conviction regarding the accident that has given rise to this litigation.
Your memo must have a cover page with the appropriate case caption and title “Trial Brief in Opposition to Defendant’s Motion to Preclude.” You also must have the case caption on the first page of the brief, itself. The brief must be at least 500 words in length and must contain references to at least two (2) primary sources of law from New York state and/or the Federal Rules of Evidence properly cited pursuant to The Bluebook.

must be divided into the following four sections:

Purpose: To examine the issue of polypharmacy in the geriatric population. Drug therapy in the elderly presents a special challenge as older patients are more sensitive to drugs and demonstrate wider individual responses.

CONTENT REQUIREMENTS:

Introduction: Student is to address current demographics of the geriatric population (numbers by age group over 50 years of age, gender, marital status, ethnicity, household income, educational level, etc. Address any demographic information you believe impacts or influences an elderly persons participation in a medication regimen.

Section I: Discuss specific physiologic changes that occur with aging and how those changes affect absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs.

Section 2: Delineate factors that predispose older patients to adverse drug reactions.

Section 3: 1. Select two of the following classes of medications (analgesics, antidepressants)

2. Identify 3 commonly prescribed medications in each class – discuss the mechanism of action of each of the medications

3. Identify 3 commonly used nonprescriptive medications from the same class as those meds discussed in Section 3.2() – discuss the mechanism of action of each of the three nonprescription medications (Example: Acetaminophen, Aspirin, Ibuprofen)

4. Identify 3 alternative or complimentary therapies advertised to address the same physiologic needs as the classes of medications identified in Section 3.2. Discuss the mechanism of action of each of the three complimentary therapies.

Section 4: Based on the mechanism of action of each of the classes of medications discussed, describe potential drug interactions about which the NP should question or assess the patient.

Conclusion: Summarize comments

References: Students must include citations from a MINIMUM of 5 peer-reviewed professional nursing journals. Research articles may be included, required textbook is not to be counted as reference. APA format required. Minimum of 10 pages, excluding title page and references.

1. Thoroughly read the section on the models of career choice. Based on your self-awareness, explain which three (3) Holland themes (based on personality orientations) best fit you. Then identify the Super developmental stage that is the best fit for your current career development. Explain why in 2-3 sentences, using at least 5 key terms from Chapter 13.

3. After completing the assessment, review your results (which will look like the image on the attached document), and tell what your Holland RIASEC code is, then explain what it means using terms from Chapter 13. Compare the codes your results showed to those that you identified in the first portion of this assignment (above). Discuss how this relates to the current Super developmental stage you identified for yourself, and how the next stages might be affected by your identified Holland codes. You should use at least 10 terms from Chapter 13.

Part 2:

For part II of the assignment, read the required articles and then write a 3-5 page paper answering the Kokubu case study questions. Be sure your discussion demonstrates that you understand the meanings and differences between data, information, and knowledge. In your discussion, give a real-world example of data, knowledge, and information in the context of the Kokubu Food Company.

Kokubu management has asked you to be the company consultant and prepare a management analysis of the business to help assess the firm’s current situation and future plans. To familiarize yourself with Kokubu’s background, you should review the corporate information, functions and business, and social and environmental conservation activities in the website. Particular attention must be given to the functions and business link to appreciate how IT supports Kokubu operations and knowledge management activities within the company.

Review the Kokubu website at http://www.kokubu.co.jp/english/business/ and after finding the answers to the Case questions, prepare a summary in 3-5 pages analyzing the following questions.

What kind of organizational trends are evident in the Kokubu case when we consider the business environment, management, and technology?
Discuss the IT applications to the company operations as discussed in the website.
Why is the company considered to be customer focused?
The CEO said his company “created a culture where people are addicted to data, information, and knowledge.” What does he mean by that, and what are the benefits and drawbacks of such a culture?
As a reminder, you must have at least two outside scholarly references when you write cases.

Identify an issue that concerns you, and attempt to input that concern into the political system through communicating with at least FIVE people that relate to your specific concern. Your concern can be anything- from getting a stop sign on a street corner, attempting to control health care costs, to ending global poverty. The exercise is basically identifying five people or institutions for your concern and attempting to input (communicate) your concern towards those people. A minimum of three people (out of the five total) must be ‘political’ in nature, such as an elected political official (or someone indirectly linked to the electoral cycle including those appointed, employed or hired by the elected official). After the completion of your efforts, write (type) a short overview of the exercise that includes a discussion of the kinds of responses you received from each of your specified targets, evaluate the exercise in general, including what you learned (if anything) from doing the exercise, and finally how this impacted your thoughts about government and citizenship. The written portion of the exercise is due by the last day of class (typed, 1 page). By the middle of the semester (either week 3 or 4) I will be requesting a short paragraph that explains your progress on this specific class exercise (worth 10% of the total grade possible).

Read “Theme for English B” and write a reflection paper that states your reaction to the article. Think carefully about how you feel about the authors experiences in school. Because you are reflecting and responding to the reading, be sure to include your thoughts and the emotions you experienced as you read.

Find a poem, story, play, or literary selection that you either really like or dislike from \”the norton anthology of english literature\” that inspires you. Then imitate the poet\’s style and use similar elements as symbolism, imagery, rhythm, stanza form, and/or line structure(how the sentences fit into lines and stanzas) There are 3 parts to this assignment. 1/ Introduce your selection from the book and tell me what inspired you to want to imitate it. Also, tell me what you hope to pull from the original as a source of inspiration for your original creative work. 2/ Then, create your own literary piece. you may update the language, create your rhyme( or lack thereof) and even change the perspective. An example would be Karl Marx who was inspired to write his Communist Manifesto based on Thomas More\’s Utopia who was inspired after reading Plato\’s The Republic. 3/ Finally, interpret your selection so the meaning will not be lost for future generations to ponder and conclude( probably erroneously) about what your creation actually meant

Application: Learning Theories Applied to Learning Experiences

Review and reflect on the theories you explored this week (behaviorism, constructivism, and social learning). With these thoughts in mind, recall a learning experience from your own life, or one from someone you know well (e.g., a spouse, a sibling, or a child). Consider how this experience embodies aspects of the theories you studied: behaviorism\’s classical conditioning, Piaget\’s psycho-social development stages, Vygotsky\’s Zone of Proximal Development, observational learning, etc.

Then, write an essay in which you analyze and describe how this learning experience demonstrates the principles of any of the learning theories presented this week. Be sure to reference this week\’s required resources and provide a concise yet detailed explanation of how the learning theories apply to your learning situation.
