Review Chapters 5 and 6 from the course text, Research Design and the “Purpose of Research” media segment.

Continue to refine your choices for articles in your annotated bibliography as needed—you will need total of 8 articles for the final assignment.

Write the introduction to your proposed study. Use the “Introduction Checklist” handout to help you improve your introduction and ensure that it is effective. Include one paragraph each for:

The research problem (also known as the problem statement)

The related literature about this problem

The deficiencies in the literature (identify several gaps in the literature)

The audiences who will potentially find the study of interest
Write a purpose statement for your proposed study using the scripts suggested in Chapter 6 of the course text, Research Design (see pp. 114, 118, 122, and 123). Use the “Purpose Statement Checklist” handout to help you improve your purpose statement and ensure that it is effective.

Begin to formulate a purpose statement, using the scripts that Creswell provided

Identify a gap in the knowledge or potential deficiency apparent in your research articles to justify the research.

This portion of the Application is designed to help you discover where and how to search for appropriate research materials. Here, you are not engaging in a full review of the literature as you might do for a research paper, a KAM, or your final thesis or dissertation. Nevertheless, this activity will provide you with some practice in critical reading so that you may better identify potential gaps in the literature, which will assist you in identifying a place for you to contribute to the body of knowledge in your discipline.

To prepare for this Application:

  • Review Chapter 2 and pp. 79–87 of Chapter 4 in the course text, Research Design and the “Literature Review” media segment.
  • Find eight research articles based on the topic, research problem, and the main research question for your study.
  • Review the instructions for writing a summary of a study presented in the course text, Research Design,on pages 36–38.
  • Write a brief rationale for why you selected each item.
  • Identify a gap in the knowledge or potential deficiency apparent in your research articles to justify the research.
  • Identify articles that support or detract from existing research to justify the research study.

The assignment:

  • Prepare the following for this part of the assignment.
    • An APA-formatted reference list entry for each of the eight articles that you have found.
    • A one-paragraph summary, following Creswell’s guidelines, of each article that you have found.
    • A brief rationale for the selection of each item. Within each rationale, identify any gaps in the knowledge or deficiencies that justify your research and whether not the article supports or detracts from existing research.

  • Describe the management team in your business (include advisors, consultants, accountants, etc.).

In order to complete Assignment #5 you will need to answer the below questions. Please complete the questions in a Word document and then upload the assignment for grading. When assigning a name to your document please use the following format (last name_Assignment #5). Use examples from the readings, lecture notes and outside research to support your answers. The assignment must be a minimum of 1-full page in length with a minimum of 2 outside sources. Please be sure to follow APA guidelines for citing and referencing sources. Assignments are due by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on Saturday.

1. Explain the intent and fundamental concepts of search and seizure law as it applies to digital crime.

2. Identify and explain situations where search and seizure is possible without a warrant. Please describe the limitations. 

Evaluate each article using all three viewpoints presented in the “awareness tool” section of the multimedia presentation by summarizing the following:

Application: Applying the Awareness Viewpoint Tool

This week you have been learning, through the multimedia presentation, that there are at least three ways to look at issues and trends: your personal awareness viewpoint, your professional awareness viewpoint, and one that combines both and also takes into consideration the particulars of where you live or work—your local awareness viewpoint. You also learned that using this awareness tool; that is, looking at an issue or trend from at least these three perspectives, helps you to more fully understand the complexity of an issue or trend.

This assignment is an opportunity for you to practice using this tool and consists of the following steps:

Step 1: Review the multimedia presentation

Pay particular attention to the 3-step ” awareness” model for analyzing issues/trends

Step 2: Review the following articles:

“The Foundations of Lifelong Health Are Built in Early Childhood”

“Fostering Child Development through Empowerment, Unity, and Cooperation.”

Pay particular attention to the contexts from which the authors present their suggestions, and note the consequences. Which of these consequences might be intended, and which might be unintended?

Step 3: Apply the Awareness Model

Evaluate each article using all three viewpoints presented in the “awareness tool” section of the multimedia presentation by summarizing the following:

Your personal awareness viewpoint; that is, specific reasons why you are either interested in learning more about the issue or are challenged in dealing with the issue
Your professional awareness viewpoint; that is, the consequences of this issue that you perceive for children, families, and EC professionals
Your local awareness viewpoint; that is, the realities of this issue, as you see them, in the specific context of your personal and professional local community
