Describe solutions that have been found to promoting adoption of EHRs and to overcoming barriers. Include specific examples, and be sure to address technological as well as human factors.

EHRs are an important focus of the HITECH Act. To comply with this legislation and to make the best use of their organization’s resources, health care managers should develop a clear understanding of the nature of EHRs and of factors that promote or mitigate against their adoption.

Prepare for this Application Assignment as follows:

  • Select a particular functional area within a health care setting. This must be an area that makes use of the types of patient data found in EHRs. Examples include: a hospital’s admissions department, emergency room, pharmacy, or nursing unit; or the billing department or outpatient treatment department at a clinic or physicians’ office.
  • Review this week’s Learning Resources and conduct a literature search to determine factors that promote and hinder adoption of an EHR system across this type of organization and within this area in particular. Look not only for technological, but also human factors that impact the adoption of EHRs.

Then write a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

  • What are key problems related to the adoption of EHRs in your selected functional area?
  • What factors promote the adoption of EHRs in this particular setting?
  • Describe solutions that have been found to promoting adoption of EHRs and to overcoming barriers. Include specific examples, and be sure to address technological as well as human factors.
  • What are specific steps management can take to facilitate the adoption of EHRs?

Your written assignments must follow APA guidelines. Be sure to support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style to ensure your in-text citations and reference list are corre

Compare and contrast the U.S. health care system with that of another country. What are some of the major advantages and disadvantages inherent of both systems?

1. Compare and contrast the U.S. health care system with that of another country. What are some of the major advantages and disadvantages inherent of both systems? Explain whether the selected country could learn from the U.S. health care system or if the U.S. could learn from the other country.

2. Evaluate the impact of at least two major trends that occurred in the U.S. health care system during the twentieth century that continue to significantly influence the access to health care in the twenty-first century. Identify the population groups that are affected the most and explain why this is the case.  How have these trends challenged health care organizations and their leaders?

Minimum of 250 words for each question. APA format. no title page is required. References can be after each question.

Compare the similarities and differences between virtue theory, utilitarianism, and deontological ethics.

The effectiveness of a new headache medicine is tested by measuring the amount of time before the headache is cured for patients who use the medicine and another group of patients who use a placebo drug. Explain.

Module 4 Homework Assignment

1. Determine whether the samples are independent or dependent.

The effectiveness of a new headache medicine is tested by measuring the amount of time before the headache is cured for patients who use the medicine and another group of patients who use a placebo drug. Explain.

2. Determine whether the samples are independent or dependent.

The effectiveness of a headache medicine is tested by measuring the intensity of a headache in patients before and after drug treatment. The data consist of before and after intensities for each patient. Explain. Solution:

Instructor Comments:

3. In a random sample of 500 people aged 20-24, 22% were smokers. In a random sample of 450 people aged 25-29, 14% were smokers. Test the claim that the proportion of smokers in the two age groups is the same. Use a significance level of 0.01. Show all steps of the hypothesis test and all calculations.

4. A researcher wishes to determine whether people with high blood pressure can reduce their blood pressure by following a particular diet. Use the sample data below to construct a 99% confidence interval for µ1 – µ2 where µ 1 and µ2 represent the mean for the treatment group and the control group respectively. Show all steps of the hypothesis test and all calculations. Use the following t-distribution table – http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/handbook/eda/section3/eda3672.htm

Treatment Group Control Group n1 = 85 n2 = 75 189.1 = 203.7 s1 = 38.7 s2 = 39.2

Solution:

Instructor Comments:

For questions 5 – 9 below, use the traditional method of hypothesis testing to test the given claim about the means of two populations. Assume that two dependent samples have been randomly selected from normally distributed populations.

Five students took a math test before and after tutoring. Their scores were as follows. Student A B C D E Before 71 66 67 77 75 After 75 75 65 80 87 Using a 0.01 level of significance, test the claim that the tutoring has an effect on the math scores.
