Describe problems that exist when a parent organization fails to acknowledge cultural differences at its other global locations.

Additional Information: The presentation that Shawn made to the board was a success. You and he both believe that the overview he gave to this leadership group helped them see the challenges associated with the effective management of global human capital and the value of recognizing human capital as the most important asset that a company can have. John and the board gave every indication that they understand the urgency in moving ahead to align key global human capital goals with those established for the global organization. In fact, they asked you to move ahead with the development of these goals and to return next week to initiate goal alignment.

“I’m relieved that my presentation went so well,” says Shawn. “I was braced for resistance.”

“Yes, it’s a major milestone, you say. Now that we have buy-in from the top, we can move forward with developing global human capital goals for AGC. It’s exciting!”

“Indeed it is,” he says. “I want to get this next step started as soon as possible.”

“Yes, developing goals will take time and lots of thought,” you say. “I recommend that you begin by evaluating the existing organizational cultures and leadership styles at AGC. They look to be very diverse.”

“That makes sense,” says Shawn. “Because the company has several global subsidiaries with significant cultural differences, this evaluation will be challenging.”

“Well, as I always say, as goes the leadership style, so goes the organizational culture. Keep that in mind as you work through this diagnostic process,” you say. “It will be foundational for the work that follows.”

“We should make time to discuss our combined knowledge and experience with managers who have diverse leadership styles and the organizational cultures that we’ve seen them create,” he says.

“AGC would benefit from an organizational culture that is more proactive and competitive,” you say. “One that focuses on the most important asset of any organization—the human assets—could turn this company around.”

“When you get back to your office,” you say as you hand him a piece of paper, “take a look at this list that I jotted down during your presentation. I think it will help you with developing goals.”

“This is great,” he says. “Thanks.”

The list you gave Shawn to help him develop goals is as follows:

  • Define and evaluate the problem with the current organizational cultures at AGC.
  • What components of the organizational culture should change, and why?
  • What impact do the leadership styles have on the present organizational cultures at AGC?
  • Describe problems that exist when a parent organization fails to acknowledge cultural differences at its other global locations.
  • What challenges does AGC presently face in regard to its past lack of focus on cultural differences?
  • What solutions can Shawn implement to correct these problems?

Analyze the cost estimating techniques used in the failed project, such as top-down or bottom-up.

For each of the following topics, discuss the impact on the failed project and your recommendations for the turnaround project. Where necessary, define assumptions you made.

  • Analyze the cost estimating techniques used in the failed project, such as top-down or bottom-up.
  • Analyze the estimated costs of all the schedule tasks and resources.
  • Analyze the use of contingency reserves in the failed project.

Analyze the image using the four visual cues from your reading: color, form, depth, and movement. Explain how the artist makes use of these four cues.

The artist Georges Seurat is one of the world’s most fascinating artists. His technique of pointillism was pivotal in inspiring future generations of painters to think about painting in both individualistic and non-conformist ways. This week’s reading references many artists from different movements (i.e. Pablo Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci).

Conduct research on an artist from any movement that you find interesting. Choose one of their works. Analyze the image using the four visual cues from your reading: color, form, depth, and movement. Explain how the artist makes use of these four cues.

In your deconstruction of the image, also explain how the physiology of the eye helps you to see the four cues.

This paper should be 2-3 pages long. Be sure to cite any resources using proper APA notation.

With this paper there needs to have sub titles (E.g. Color, Form, Depth and movement). Also at the end of the introductory paragraph my professor wants to see a preview statement. so “This Paper will go over the color, form, depth and movement from “painting or picture.”

Discuss the ethical implications of the organization’s policies and strategies with respect to market expansion, human capital management, and the environment.

Scenario

As the human resources (HR) manager for a public organization, you are conducting a New Hire Orientation session for all new employees. As research for your orientation, you are writing a report about the functions of the organization, its strengths and weaknesses, and its mission, vision, goals, and objectives.

Instructions

  1. Choose a public organization, such as Target, McDonalds, Apple, etc., as the basis for this assignment. Be sure to choose an organization where the information needed to complete this assignment is publicly available and is easily accessible.
  2. Using research from at least three sources, develop a report that accomplishes the following tasks:
    • Identify the company’s mission statement, vision statement, goals, objectives, and tactical plans.
    • Explain how each of the four functions of management impacts the organization’s goals and objectives.
    • Discuss the ethical implications of the organization’s policies and strategies with respect to market expansion, human capital management, and the environment.
    • Conduct an internal and external assessment of the organization:
      • Identify the organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats using SWOT analysis.
      • Illustrate the organization’s product portfolio using a BCG Matrix.
      • Analyze the internal and external environments using environmental scanning. Assess the organizational structure; the relationships and interactions among employees, management, and shareholders; market competitors; as well as the industry, national, and macro environments.

Support your responses using scholarly research from the Argosy University online library resources.

Write in a clear, concise, and organized manner. Your response should demonstrate ethical scholarship in appropriate and accurate representation and attribution of sources (i.e., APA); and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Write a 5–7-page report in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M1_A3.doc. For example, if your name is John Smith, your document will be named SmithJ_M1_A3.doc.

Explain the key aspects of your strategies for producing and distributing your products and services to both your stores and customers.

You will now consider your company’s strengths and weakness, along with your product or service price.

Use the Internet to research strategies for conducting a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis. Based on your company’s market information, consider the strengths and weakness of your company and its products or services.

Write a four to six (4-6) paragraph journal entry in which you:

  1. Determine the key strengths and weaknesses of your company, as well as both the primary opportunities and threats that it faces within its industry.
  2. Discuss your critical steps within your supply-chain and operational system. Explain the key aspects of your strategies for producing and distributing your products and services to both your stores and customers. Determine whether you will use an outside vendor or complete the work in house.
  3. Analyze the company’s pricing strategy relative to its pricing objective. Examine major internal and major external factors that could potentially affect the pricing of the company’s products or services.
  4. Use at least two (2) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Discuss which of Michael Porter’s basic strategies you will use to market this product and why.

Scenario 2: You are the owner of a small to mid-sized business. You are currently developing your marketing plan for the upcoming year. The marketing plan will include both the tactical and strategic plan elements. You will also discuss the implementation and evaluation of the strategic marketing plan.

In Week 3, you will answer the following:

  • Outline your selected scenario and details about the firm and/or product line.
  • Discuss which of Michael Porter’s basic strategies you will use to market this product and why.
  • As you know from your reading, consumers have different product needs and use products differently. Segmentation seeks to group different demands and needs into clusters with similar demand patterns. Using the dimensions of market segmentation, determine which markets you will target with your marketing plan. Outline your target market in detail.
  • Outline the stages in the consumer decision making process for your selected product or service. Be sure to discuss how consumers evaluate alternatives and what mediums they use in the information search stage.
  • Conduct research to determine where improvements should be made to your product or service line. Discuss these improvements and the estimated cost in developing and launching these enhancements. This could be a product line extension, a service improvement, new packaging, Web site enhancements, etc. The purpose of this element of the marketing plan is continuous improvement. You should justify the need of these enhancements based on your research, such as a review of the competition, feedback from customers, or a review of the marketing environment.

Submit a 4- to 5-page paper written in APA format; including a minimum of three peer-reviewed articles from SUO’s online library justifying your explanations.
