Examine any legal implications in creating a training course that discusses culture. Identify what laws and regulations should be considered.

Final Paper

The purpose of the Final Paper is for you to culminate the learning achieved in the course by describing your understanding and application of knowledge in the field of employee training through the analysis of a scenario related to the creation of a training course.

Focus of the Final Paper

In the course, you have examined several areas of employee training. For this paper, you will be applying this knowledge by examining the creation of a cultural diversity training course.

Imagine that you are in training and development for a global organization. You have been tasked with the creation of a cultural diversity training course that all employees will be required to take. Before designing the course, you must consider the ethical and cultural issues of the task.

In an eight- to ten-page paper (excluding the title and reference pages), you must address the following:

  1. Examine any legal implications in creating a training course that discusses culture. Identify what laws and regulations should be considered.
  2. Explain how the demographic diversity of your employees affects discussions of cultural diversity.
  3. Examine which ethical implications should be considered.
  4. Examine if training can be standardized for all locations in a global organization. Analyze what media is best suited for training in a global setting.

Identify three of the most environmentally negative impacts of the Industrial Revolution and justify your choices.

The Industrial Revolution, which began in the eighteenth century, has had an ongoing influence on society as well as the relationship between humans and their environment. With the onset of industrialization came the drastic increase in urbanization, setting up of factories in places which were once biomes, and the rapid development of land. All this occurred without assessing the long-term impact to the environment. Recognizing the importance of the Industrial Revolution era and the ongoing impact it has had on the environment is essential to learning how to help the environment and correct the damage of that era.

Using the readings for this module, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, complete the following:

  • Identify three of the most environmentally negative impacts of the Industrial Revolution and justify your choices. For example, the invention of the automobile revolutionized travel in a positive manner. However, this invention is causing some of the biggest environmental problems as a result of the extensive use of oil extracted from the earth.
  • Examine how these three negative impacts changed the environment; list the mechanisms through which this happened. For example, factories caused an increase in pollution through the release of toxic waste, which led to diminished and lost fish populations in rivers.
  • Explain the effect of the environmental movement on the process of industrialization in the United States during the 1970s.
  • Identify the laws passed to help ameliorate the environmental issues in the U.S. or around the world related to these three impacts. Have any laws been passed since this movement in the 1970s? If there have been laws implemented, summarize the spirit of the law and comment on the effectiveness of the law.
  • Based on your research, examine whether the state of the environment has become worse or has improved as a result of these laws. Suggest steps to improve the environmental situation.

Identify the difficulties the managers may be having in establishing self-directed, high-performing teams.

You have just attended a manager’s meeting about establishing self-directed, high-performing teams. The company is concerned because some of the managers are having success building self-directed, high-performing teams while others are not. A discussion occurred that identified the characteristics of the successful team building elements and compared them to those managers that have not been successful. This is a situation where those who are struggling need to learn from those who are doing well. The discussions included identifying what could be going wrong and what steps might be taken for success.

You have been asked to write a research report that summarizes the meeting and offers some recommendations that might be helpful to those managers who are struggling. Specifically, your report must include:

  • Identification of the difficulties the managers may be having in establishing self-directed, high-performing teams
  • Identification of the successful characteristic of establishing self-directed, high-performing teams
  • Recommendations for success
  • A designed plan that might help guide the struggling managers and improve negotiation and conflict resolution skills

Use the Library and Internet to research this topic.

Present your findings as a 5-7 pages (body of paper) formatted in APA style.

Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:

  • Title page: Remember the running head and title in all capital letters.
  • Abstract: This is a summary of your paper, not an introduction. Begin writing in third-person voice.
  • Body: The body of your paper begins on the page following the title page and abstract page, and it must be double-spaced between paragraphs. The typeface should be 12-pt. Times Roman or 12-pt. Courier in regular black type. Do not use color, bold type, or italics except as required for APA level headings and references. The deliverable length of the body of your paper for this assignment is 5-7 pages. In-text academic citations to support your decisions and analysis are required. A variety of academic sources is encouraged.
  • Reference page: References that align with your in-text academic sources are listed on the final page of your paper. The references must be in APA format using appropriate spacing, hang indention, italics, and upper- and lower-case usage as appropriate for the type of resource used. Remember, the reference page is not a bibliography, but it is a further listing of the abbreviated in-text citations used in the paper. Every referenced item must have a corresponding in-text citation.

What small group have you selected (for example, three families with young children, a group of five AIDS patients, and so on)?

To implement your care plan begin small—say, one or two families, or a small group of 5–10 people.

The first step to effective implementation is planning. As you go about this task, answer the following questions:

  • What small group have you selected (for example, three families with young children, a group of five AIDS patients, and so on)? What made you select this particular group?
  • What portion of the plan would you like to implement in the small group?
  • What health risk do you expect to tackle by implementing this intervention?
  • What results do you expect?
  • How do you plan to implement this intervention? Do you have any specific strategy in mind? What resources will you need?
  • How long do you think it will take for the results to be seen?

Prepare a 1-page Microsoft Word document with your responses to the questions above and submit it.

Discuss what resources you need. Put your plan into action.

  • Mobilize the resources you need, talk to the small group, recruit volunteers, etc.
  • When your resources are in place, put your plan into action.

Analyze how your general education courses influenced you to become a global citizen.

  • Provide at least two personal examples or events in your life that illustrate the development of global citizenship based on the outcomes.
  • Analyze how your general education courses influenced you to become a global citizen.
