F.W. Murnau\’s Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927)

In this week’s reading, we’ve encountered explanations of the way in which cinema introduces and generates a “desire” in the spectator. In Christian Metz’s chapter \”The Passion of Perceiving,” he writes that the “practice of the cinema is only possible through the perceptual passions: the desire to see… and the desire to hear.” (58) In what way is this practice carried out in a film like F.W. Murnau\’s Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927)? In your response, consider the way in which desire operates on a formal level in the film—shot framing, editing, etc (any of the basic operations of which we discussed in lecture)—as well as in relation to the main characters\’ motivations. Given that this is a silent film, how does the filmmaker implicate you, the spectator, in the film? Please feel free to refer to the writings of Béla Balázs or Harun Farocki in your response.

Demo Essay (Pick a title)

Think of something simple you are already good at and create an essay about doing that. It needs a creative title. You should use good details and descriptions. It must be informative (in some way). All high tech or specific technical terms should be defined.
It needs to be written in sequential order or by category. Make sure that it is personal and has your own touches visible in the essay. You can use hints, advice, successes, or examples of failure to enhance the essay.
The Intro and conclusion should not have steps in them.
The introduction should open topic creatively by using story, question, or another opening technique. Besides an attention-getter, you will need to show us a reason why we would want to do your specific process, and also demonstrate why you are the expert we should be listening to.(even if you do not think of yourself as an expert, make us believe that you are)
In the body, use personal experiences and funny details from your own life to move the explanation along. Have some fun with it. Chose something from your life or something you know about already. Do not show any doubt about your ability or the ability of the process to work. Recipes are no good!
Conclusion- Could show your opinion of the whole process and of the topic, answer any questions, or give a final thought. (don’t leave us hanging.)

Some examples of topics: * Weight lifting
* How to protect your computer from malware
and viruses
*Or any simple topic you\’re good at

Why I am a Compatibilist (Only Text that can be used is “Philosophy: A Thematic Approach” by Douglas Thiel ISBN 13: 978-1511754408 )

Remember, Examples from other text books are not allowed nor any citation is allowed. Your first sentence is your thesis (point of view). The body of your essay is a thesis defense. It needs to contain reasons to support your thesis gained from an understanding of what is in your course text and the videos you watched. In the course of your thesis defense consider a strong “counter-argument” to your thesis and show why this counter-argument does not negate your thesis. This is an \”I\” paper and not a research project or book report. Your thesis selection and thesis defense should be based on your understanding and reflection. It should be the result of careful consideration and study. It needs to be in your own words. This does not mean that you simply provide a point of view off the top of your head. You need to have read and studied the material listed and correlate your thinking with what is contained in the history of philosophy to which you have been introduced. You can, of course, devise your own examples that you might feel helps defend your thesis selection. Keep them relevant.

study question on pinochhio

1. Choose two episodes from Collodi\’s original book that also appear in Disney\’s animated adaptation(for example, \”the birth of Pinocchio,\” \”the puppet show,\” \”boy to donkey,\” \”inside a shark/dogfish/whale\”). Write a detailed comparison of the two narratives, focusing on the following:

• the materiality and felt qualities of the performance (i.e. your reading of words on a page vs your viewing and hearing of an animated film)

• the depiction of characters in the episode (e.g. Gepetto, Pinocchio, cricket, fairy, Candlewick/Lampwick))

• the centrality and significance of Pinocchio\’s own childhood SELF to the narrative

2. Connect what you observed in (1) to the artistic, cultural, and historical circumstances of the original and Disney\’s adaptation.

In your answer, support your points with quotes from the book and close descriptions (or screen captures) from the movie.

I should understand all of the parts, so please make sure to solve this question fully and explain it to me. (Maybe this assignment basically full of equation and procedures so please help me with that I really need this. It worth a lot of points. Thanks

#The following question should be answered in the best way where it should be free of plagarism as my university is really restricted from this type of violations and if they caught me doing such thing after the warning I got from them I will be in trouble. I wish you could help and avoid copying.Remember, this is not a research paper and it is an Assignment that should be neat and good and not over done so that the instructor doesn\’t have a doubt that I didn\’t do it. At the same time I need it to be good enough, so that I get the full grade because I need it. \”PLEASE NO PLAGRISIM, BECAUSE i ALREDY HAVE A WARNING AND ANY OTHER VIOLATIONS I WILL BE KICKED\”. Thanks
