Identify and discuss two factors that may influence the adoption of e-Health among healthcare organizations and providers.

 

 

There are several factors to consider before implementation of a HRIS. For the discussion this week, we will examine these considerations. Research and report on your findings. Consider the following questions.

• What internal aspects of an organization need to be examined before choosing a HRIS?
• What external factors need to be considered before choosing a HRIS?
• Who should be a part of the discovery and decision-making process?

One of the major efforts being undertaken currently in medical informatics is the installation of EHR systems in all sizes of health systems, hospitals, clinics, and practices. Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research on EHR. Based on your research and understanding, answer the following questions:

• Why has EHR adoption been so slow? Why did the early systems fail?
• What core functions make up a typical electronic health system?
• What is the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act and how does it relate to EHRs?
• What are the current governmental incentives for installing EHR systems? What are the ramifications if systems do not start using EHR?
• What are the requirements for optimal utilization of EHR systems?
• What is certified EHR? Why is it important?
• How can EHR systems reduce cost and increase quality of care?

 

 

Identify a senior citizen and schedule an hour to talk with him or her face to face. Be sure to tell the person that you are completing the interview as part of a class assignment and that the content of the interview is completely confidential (no names will be used). Conduct an informal interview, focusing on the participant’s developmental history.

Consider the following:

• Family history and background
• School environment and educational experience
• Employment and volunteer work
• Social relationships
• Partnerships and parenthood
• Significant life events
• Significant life transitions
• Memorable experiences

In addition to interview data, you may also obtain information from significant others, behavioral observations during the interview, and records (e.g. school reports, family albums, diaries, etc).

Part I: Document the questions you asked and the participant’s responses. This is your interview ‘transcript’ that will be turned in along with your reflective paper.

Part II: Write about 1,050 words reflecting on the interview. In your paper, include information on the following:

• What were the most notable aspects of the interview? What topics did your interviewee respond strongly to and why?
• What were the most surprising aspects of the interview? Did any of the interviewee’s responses surprise you? Explain.
• What stood out as being most important in his/her life? Describe the interviewee’s most significant or meaningful life events.
• What life transitions did your interviewee discuss? Did he/she disclose any specific strategies for coping with difficult life transitions? Describe the interviewee’s most challenging transitions.
• Explain what you learned from this experience.

1. The author, Steven Levitt, lists the causes for the decrease in crime that occurred in the U.S. during the 1990’s that were mentioned in newspaper articles. What were  they?

Preliminary investigations do not necessarily yield enough information to prosecute a criminal case. Despite a thorough preliminary investigation, many cases require a follow – up investigation. Use your textbook, the Internet, and / or Strayer Library to research articles on crime scene investigation.

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

1. Assemble a set of guidelines on conducting preliminary investigation for a criminal case.
2. Propose one (1) strategy that criminal investigators should take in order to conduct an efficient follow-up investigation. Provide a rationale to support your response.
3. Select two major crimes (e.g. sudden deaths, sex related crimes) and compare and contrast the key differences in reporting the two major crimes that you selected.
4. Determine the three (3) most important characteristics of an effective criminal investigator and discuss the importance of each characteristic you determined.
5. Support or critique the argument that the criminal investigation process should maintain the balance regarding freedom of information through media outlets and privacy rights of alleged perpetrators of crime. Provide a rationale to support your response.
