Describe a performance issue which resulted from a motivational problem (what, why, who).

The relationship between the organization and its members can be greatly influenced by what motivates individuals to work. The style of leadership, job design, resources on the job, and environment can all have a significant effect on the satisfaction of employees and their performance. Performance is also influenced by individual motivations (e.g., social, recognition, financial reward, personal growth and development, and/or intrinsic satisfaction) and can equally impact the organization. There are many theories that attempt to explain the nature of motivation. Write a four- to five-page paper (excluding the title and reference pages) evaluating the relationship between motivation, job satisfaction, and work performance. Be sure to address the following:

  1. Describe a performance issue which resulted from a motivational problem (what, why, who).
  2. Use a content theory of motivation (e.g., Maslow, Alderfer, Herzberg, or McClelland) or a process theory (i.e., Adams, Locke, or Heider and Kelley) to explain how the issue creates a performance problem for the organization.
  3. Use the theory of motivation you selected to describe an intervention/action to change the motivation/behavior and correct the performance problem.

Your paper must use a minimum of three scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook. Your paper must be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center..

What should be considered about change and workers before implementing a new HRIS?Explain.

Consider the implications of change management in the implementation of a HRIS. Review Kotter’s Change Model and Lewin’s Change Model.

Consider the following questions:

  • What are the possible pitfalls when changing current practices within an organization?
  • What should be considered about change and workers before implementing a new HRIS?
  • How should HR prepare employees for the implementation?

APA format, correct spelling, doesn’t matter on paragraphs as long as the questions are answered

Compare and contrast the writings, speeches, and work of Dubois and Washington. Be sure to include context and appropriate detail.

Answer the following questions in several paragraphs.

Question One:

Take one African American leader whom we have studied and carefully construct an argument for why that person was successful in reaching his or her goals. Include what the person’s goals were and make sure to have loads of context and appropriate detail. W.E.B. Du Bois.

Question 2

Compare and contrast the writings, speeches, and work of Dubois and Washington. Be sure to include context and appropriate detail.

Question 3

Question 4

Give 2 examples for when and why the federal government and executive branch intervened with the civil rights movement of the 50′s, 60′s and possibly beyond. Include examples from school desegregation and other examples. Be sure to specify what time period you are talking about and who the key people were.

identify whether the factor would be included in the calculation for the initial investment, or the operating cash flow, or the terminal value, or is not relevant to this decision.

Assume that your company is considering the replacement of an automated milling machine with one of the new machines offered by three different manufacturers.  Each of the three machines under consideration is expected to have an economic life of five years and will result in greater daily production capacity and therefore increased sales volume. The increased volume will require an increase in working capital during the first year to a level that will remain constant until the end of the five years.  The decision of which specific machine to select will depend on a net present value analysis.  The old machine has reached the end of its estimated useful life and can be sold at the salvage value that was projected when the machine was first installed.

Listed below are factors that may be essential for inclusion when estimating project cash flows.  The factors may be required to correctly calculate either the initial investment, the operating cash flows, or the terminal value that would be analyzed to determine the net present value of the project.   It is also possible that certain factors could be used in more than one of the three categories of cash flow.  Another possibility is that the factor listed is not relevant to cash flow estimation for this specific scenario.

Your task is to identify whether the factor would be included in the calculation for the initial investment, or the operating cash flow, or the terminal value, or is not relevant to this decision.  You must also explain whether failure to appropriately include the factor in the calculation would result in overstating or understating the net present value of the project.

FACTORS

Purchase price of capital asset

Incremental annual depreciation expense

Total company sales revenue

Cash realized from sale of the old machine at its estimated salvage value

Interest on the loan used to finance the asset purchase

Total annual depreciation expense

Increase in working capital

Decrease in working capital

Total net income before tax

Incremental net income before tax

Marginal income tax rate

Investment tax credit

Cost of shipping and installing the new equipment

Directions and Grading Criteria

To complete this assignment, you are to develop a Powerpoint presentation.  You should create  1-3 slides that identify the factors used to  determine the initial investment,  2-5 slides that identify the factors used to  determine the operating cash flow estimates, and  1-3 slides that identify the factors used to   determine the terminal value estimate.  You must also indicate on the slides whether failure to appropriately include the factor in the calculation would result in overstating or understating the net present value of the project.  Additional explanations or comments should appear in the speaker notes for each slide.  APA standards for writing style must be applied to the speaker notes.  Factors that are not relevant to the NPV calculation should not be included on any slide.

How does a person’s perspective that users of drugs are socially deviant influence their perspective regarding Drug Policies? Explain.

1.Explain theme of the paper, “Pleasure Domes of Xanadu”. Based on what you read in the “pleasure Domes” Would you conclude that the Use of Opium is good for Cultural Development? 2.Explain the Theme of the paper, “Economic Histories of Opium” Which Governments Taxed the Opium Trade? What were the reasons that led governments to consider ending the trade in Opium, though it yielded lots of revenues to these governments? 3.Define the Social Deviance Perspective on Drugs (Illicit drugs such as Cocaine). How does a person’s perspective that users of drugs are socially deviant influence their perspective regarding Drug Policies?

explore how different levels of influence may contribute to the problem and interact with each other.

The Ecological Model in health education focuses attention on the individual as well as the social environmental factors as the targets for any interventions. This model shows how influences on all different levels interrelate, and add to a health problem. Health is influenced on multiple levels.

For this Discussion, consider the problem of global water scarcity, and explore how different levels of influence may contribute to the problem and interact with each other.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post 4-5 pages of a description of the environmental problem of water scarcity. Then, based on the core principles of the Ecological Model, explain how the multiple levels of influence contribute to the problem and interact with each other. Finally, describe a basic environmental health intervention and explain how it might be applied at each level of influence.

Identify the exploration, clarification, and action stages of the interview.

Watch the “Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy” video found in this week’s Electronic Reserve Readings. You do not need to watch the entire video. At a minimum, watch from the 33-minute mark until the 51- minute mark.

Write a 1,400- to 2,100-word paper about information-giving responses and the characteristics of interview phases. Include examples from the video that demonstrate the following topics:

  • The counselor’s nonverbal and verbal skills
  • Did certain questions or comments create a change in nonverbal or verbal actions for the clients?
  • What open- and closed-ended questions did the counselor use?
  • What techniques did the counselor use to paraphrase and summarize the words of the clients? Was this effective?
  • How did the counselor apply the information-giving responses?
  • Identify the exploration, clarification, and action stages of the interview.
  • What are examples of reflective feeling?
  • How did the counselor encourage the clients to self-disclose? Was she successful?
  • Provide your thoughts on the overall interview structure. Was it a comfortable setting? How could it be improved?

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Analyze the major short run and long cost functions for the low-calorie, frozen microwaveable food company given the cost functions below.

Using the regression results and the other computations from Assignment 1, determine the market structure in which the low-calorie frozen, microwavable food company operates.

Use the Internet to research two (2) of the leading competitors in the low-calorie frozen, microwavable food industry, and take note of their pricing strategies, profitability, and their relationships within the industry (worldwide).

Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:

  1. Outline a plan that will assess the effectiveness of the market structure for the company’s operations. Note: In Assignment 1, the assumption was that the market structure [or selling environment] was perfectly competitive and that the equilibrium price was to be determined by setting QD equal to QS. You are now aware of recent changes in the selling environment that suggest an imperfectly competitive market where your firm now has substantial market power in setting its own “optimal” price.
  2. Given that business operations have changed from the market structure specified in the original scenario in Assignment 1, determine two (2) likely factors that might have caused the change. Predict the primary manner in which this change would likely impact business operations in the new market environment.
  3. Analyze the major short run and long cost functions for the low-calorie, frozen microwaveable food company given the cost functions below. Suggest substantive ways in which the low-calorie food company may use this information in order to make decisions in both the short-run and the long-run.

TC = 160,000,000 + 100Q + 0.0063212Q2

VC = 100Q + 0.0063212Q2

MC= 100 + 0.0126424Q

  1. Determine the possible circumstances under which the company should discontinue operations. Suggest key actions that management should take in order to confront these circumstances. Provide a rationale for your response. (Hint: Your firm’s price must cover average variable costs in the short run and average total costs in the long run to continue operations.)
  2. Suggest one (1) pricing policy that will enable your low-calorie, frozen microwavable food company to maximize profits. Provide a rationale for your suggestion.

(Hints:

  • In Assignment 1, you determined your firm’s market demand equation. Now you need to find the inverse demand equation. Having found that, find the Total Revenue function for your firm (TR is P x Q). From your firm’s Total Revenue function, then find your Marginal Revenue (MR) function.
  • Use the profit maximization rule MR = MC to determine your optimal price and optimal output level now that you have market power. Compare these values with the values you generated in Assignment 1. Determine whether your price higher is or lower.)
  1. Outline a plan, based on the information provided in the scenario, which the company could use in order to evaluate its financial performance. Consider all the key drivers of performance, such as company profit or loss for both the short term and long term, and the fundamental manner in which each factor influences managerial decisions.

(Hints:

  • Calculate profit in the short run by using the price and output levels you generated in part 5. Optional: You may want to compare this to what profit would have been in Assignment 1 using the cost function provided here.
  • Calculate profit in the long run by using the output level you generated in part 5 and cost data in part 3 and assuming that the selling environment will likely be very competitive. Determine why this would be a valid assumption.)
  1. Recommend two (2) actions that the company could take in order to improve its profitability and deliver more value to its stakeholders. Outline, in brief, a plan to implement your recommendations.
  2. Use at least five (5) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia does not qualify as an academic resource.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Analyze short-run and long-run production and cost functions.
  • Apply macroeconomic concepts to changes in global and national economies and how they affect economic growth, inflation, interest rates, and wage rates.
  • Evaluate the profit-maximizing price and output level for given operating costs for monopolies and firms in competitive industries.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in managerial economics and globalization.
  • Write clearly and concisely about managerial economics and globalization using proper writing mechanics.

Explain the MC=MR Rule. Describe the market structures to which this rule applies.

Joseph Farms, Inc. is a small firm in the agricultural industry. They have asked you to help them complete the limited data they have gathered in an effort to enable effective decision-making. Some work can be done using MS Excel but it must be copied to an MS Word file for the final submission of this assignment. To assist Joseph Farms, Inc., respond to the following:

  • Using MS Excel or a table in MS Word, complete Table-1 (Joseph Farms, Inc., Cost and Revenue Data).
    • Assume that the price is $165.
    • Assume the fixed costs are $125, at an output level of 1.
    • Assume that the data represents a firm in pure competition.
    • Show your calculations.
  • Explain the MC=MR Rule.  Describe the market structures to which this rule applies.
  • Create a chart to illustrate the data in Columns 9 and 10.
  • Describe the profit maximizing (or loss minimizing) output for this firm.  Explain why or why not there is an economic profit?
  • Explain why a firm in pure competition is considered to be a “price taker.”
