5. On a particular day, a town’s electricity usage can be approximated by a sinusoidal function U(t), where t = 0 corresponds to midnight. 6. Simplify cos(arcsin x) by rewriting it as an expression that contains no trigonometric or inverse trigono- metric functions. Please draw a triangle as part of showing your work.

A. Business Article Review.

a. Find an article related to your interests in a business periodical such as the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Bloomberg Business week, New York Times, The Economist, etc. Do not search through online links in health, fashion, auto, sports, etc. You can write about these and other stories but the article must come from a traditional business periodical. Last minute online searches will not work well for this assignment as there is usually not enough information to answer all four questions well.

b. Write a 3-page paper in response to the following questions:

1. What is the main theme/topic of the article and why is it important to managers?

2. As a manager, how would you implement or use what you’ve learned from this article once you are working in the “real world?” Would this even work in the real world?

3. Do you agree with everything in this article? If so, why? If not, what would you change?

4. How does the subject matter in this article tie in with at least three topics or concepts that are discussed in the textbook? Define each concept and explain why these ideas, strategies, etc., best illustrate the term or concept. Elaborate or talk about this aspect. Simply mentioning the term or concept is not sufficient. Define and discuss it.

Upload the paper to Blackboard, Assignments, using Safe Assign. Each paper must be no less than 2 ¾ fully-developed pages and no more than 3. This is the equivalent of approximately 950 – 1,100 words. Use 12 pt. font, 1” margins, and double space the paper. Do not use more than two spaces between paragraphs. Follow this format to avoid further deduction of points.

Your health care organization has recently committed 20 nurses to participatte in a 4-month-long multinational effort to treat patients exposed to a highly contagious virus in a \”hot zone\” in Africa. The director of your organization has asked you, because of your previous medical mission experience, to outline nursing-related plans for preparing for the mobilization and present this information at an upcoming staff meeting.

Create an 8-10 slide PowerPoint presentation (with detailed speaker\’s notes) of your mobilization plan. It should be targeted toward members of the hospital\’s administrative staff, nurses, and the physicians who will also participate in this medical mission.

Chasing Heroin

After reading the above articles and watching the film (this is critical to have an informed discussion so we\’re all on the same page!) Pick one of the questions below and provide a comprehensive and critical response (be sure to include sources):

How is the response and public discussion of this epidemic similar or different than the crack epidemic of the 1980s? (There have been some good articles on this, go find them!)
Where should someone go if they are caught using opioids illegally? Rehab? Prison?
What are the pros/cons of each option? Who should pay?
How have other countries addressed drug abuse? For example, what do they do in England? Or Portugal? (If you choose this one make sure you pick a different country than your classmates)
What should be done to curb the epidemic? What are the roles of pharmaceutical companies in this?
What influence have doctors had? What kind of policies could help this epidemic?
Should they target drug trafficking, or drug manufactures, or drug dealers?
If there is another perspective or issue presented in this whole issue that you are dying to talk about and hear feedback from your peers feel free to do so–the goal here is to really analyze this through the sociological lens and critique all the \”players\” and the victims.
