There is little question that the criminal justice system that plays such a vital role in our society is very much under scrutiny. What has passed as professional conventional wisdom and practice for decades no longer has the support of many outside and quite a few inside of the criminal justice system. Our system has always been the subject of ongoing research and reform but in our time the effort seems to have taken on an acute urgency calling into question our fundamental assumptions. Law professor Adam Benforado has devoted his professional life to probing the ways in which, in his opinion, the system continues to fail society.
