Developmental Case Study Outline

1. Statement of Case (Situation) (2 pages).
• From a current or past work experience you will collectively choose one situation that requires problem solving, goal setting, and collaboration.
• Write a brief description of the dynamics (forces at work) of this situation.

2. Definition of the management strategy ( 2 pages)
• Choose one management concept, practice, or principle from your course readings, class lectures, or other handouts given and explain the theory.
• You will then discuss its relationship to management strategy.

3. Concepts and Applications (Internet Research) (3- 4 pages).
• You will explore one organization via research (peer reviewed journal) that used the same or similar management strategy in its business.
• You will then explain how the management strategy, when applied to your situation, would have helped in resolving the problem of your case study.
• Remember the management strategy will demonstrate a positive idea of resolution to your situation.

B) How have art or popular genre fiction contributed to generating public support or dissent for post-WWII military conflicts?
Discuss using two specific case studies, which may be either –
• Two examples from different genres (eg. Art, science-fiction cinema
and writing, television drama, superhero comics) that address the
same military conflict
• Two examples from a single genre that address two different military
conflicts.

You will be required to research on financial analysis of the performance of (john lewis department store) to include financial and non-financial performance indicators by designing a balanced scorecard covering two (2) perspectives, analysis the two balance score cards and evaluate the technique used.

2-Ratio analysis of both Latest and Previous years (show all workings and provide detailed reference of data sources);
This should include:
a. Liquidity,
b. Solvency,
c. Working capital management,
d. Profitability,
e. Asset efficiency,
Providing a minimum of two (2) and an average of three (3) ratios for each of the above headings for each of the two years covered;
Discussion and interpretation of the ratios should also be done here.

3-Comparison with industry average figures as available
4- Discussion of the performance of the company
5- Using published information; Design any two (2) Balanced Scorecards suitable for use by the directors and managers of your organisation to align business activities to the identified vision and strategy, and to monitor performance against strategic goals. This should not include the financial indicators.
You will be expected to discuss and evaluate the score cards.

Given the problems commonly associated with cities as outlined in this chapter, design from scratch, your ideal city. In doing be sure to address the following variables: its size, people, economy, businesses, politics, services, systems of social control, tax base, transportation system, education system, housing, culture, and types of entertainment.

Select a civilization, or civilizations that you think are most similar to Cahokia based on the archaeological evidence for complex societies that we have discussed in class and read about in the textbooks. Discuss specifically how these civilizations are similar to Cahokia and discuss specifically how they appear to be different from Cahokia. For clarity and organization, I recommend selecting three similarities and three differences to discuss. At the end of your essay answer the following question:

Based on what you have learned this semester about the development of complex societies, do you think Cahokia is a state-level society in the same manner as other state-level societies we have learned about this semester? Why, or why not?

Points to consider in project selection:

The project must integrate new or existing systems to address a business process.
The project should not be too complex although it should be sufficient to allow you to demonstrate the skills you have learned in the courses taken prior to this course.
You should have access to any subsystems or information required to complete the project.
You will need to create some portion of the project (i.e., you cannot just use existing systems). At a minimum, you will need to create some portion of the system that integrates the other subsystems. Your work must include some programming (language of your choice) and the use of a database for some aspect of the project.
It is highly desirable to create a Web-based application for this project due to the availability of Web services that are useful for integration purposes. Web-based applications can also be operated on publicly available Web sites which will make them easier to deploy and evaluate. If you choose to create a Web-based project, be sure to check the availability of scripting, server-side coding, and database capabilities on your Web hosting server. You may not have a significant background in Web application development. Some background on Web development and Web Services was provided in the standard curriculum and examples are provided in the reading materials for this course. The type of Web application required to integrate Web Services and create and integrated system are not overly complicated and can be created in languages you are probably familiar with already (PHP, Java, C#).
The proposal is due by Friday of the first week of class.
Write a short (1- to 2-paragraph) description of the business process you want to address in the project. Include a discussion of the existing subsystems you will use and the subsystems you will create.
Submit your proposal via email to your instructor for approval. Your instructor will approve or deny the proposal. If denied, your instructor will provide guidance regarding the changes required for approval and ask you to resubmit the proposal.
Following are examples of the types of projects that would qualify. These are only examples and you are encouraged to think of others.
Checkout/payment process for an online store (could use external payment system as a subsystem and your code integrates with this system)
Service location Web site (could use a Web map system for directions and your code integrates with this system)
Project time tracking system (could use a Web service to receive time logging information from a simple Web form and your code would create and use the Web service)

Write a 375 word in MLA format, film analysis/reaction essay addressing this film’s issues:

India’s customs and treatment of widows and the caste system. How did these issues contribute to this turbulent period in India’s history?

Not a summary, not a book report but It must be your original and unique analytical response/critical thinking to the video with no ethnocentrism.

Discussion of at least three software development methodologies
Comparison and contrast of the strengths and weaknesses of each methodology
Review of the types of projects most suitable for each methodology
