Involved in risk management are safety concerns not only for the employees but for the business as well. Discuss some of the ways a company can prepare the business for a natural disaster. Also, what can the business do for the employees?

It is a specific requirement of ISA 315 that the auditor obtains an understanding of the internal control relevant to the audit. This is a crucial step in assessing the risk of material misstatement, as one of the components of audit risk is control risk, defined as the risk that a misstatement that could occur will not be prevented, or detected and corrected, on a timely basis by the entity’s internal control. An important part of assessing the risk of material misstatement is that the risks identified should be prioritized. This is because ISA 315 determines that risks which are identified as being significant risks require special audit consideration. It is a matter of judgment as to whether a risk constitutes a significant risk, and matters such as the complexity of the transaction, whether there is a risk of fraud, the involvement of related parties, and whether the transaction is outside the normal course of business should be considered. (ISA 315.28) Any thoughts?

As we continue to discuss the audit risk model one area that should not be overlooked is engagement risk. This risk is directly associated with the business risk of the client and this risk is used in the initial planning stages to modify acceptable audit risk.

Engagement risk is the risk that an auditor, of firm, will suffer harm after the completion of the audit. The audit report could very well be accurate, but the auditor must consider the clients business risk in setting an acceptable level of audit risk. As we know, clients can have an favorable audit report and then not meet business objectives which in turn may cause hardship, for example, suffering a serious loss and then declaring bankruptcy. This may subject the auditor to lawsuits from the users of the audit report.

Engagement risk can be modified based on the acceptable audit risk that is also modified during the course of an audit. This also plays into the notion that having experienced auditors who will modify the audit based on changes in risk levels is so important. Any thoughts?

In 2013, COSO issued an update of its framework to include 17 principles. Can any one search and present theses principles to us.

Assignment 1: LASA 2: Generating a Policy Proposal

Although some states and cities have passed laws to ban texting and using handheld phones while driving, there is no current law to ban all cell phone use while driving. However, according to the National Safety Council (2009), 28 percent of all crashes—1.6 million per year—are caused by cell phone use and texting by drivers. The mission of a new national nonprofit organization called Focus Driven, patterned after Mothers Against Drunk Driving, is to make phone use while driving as illegal and socially unacceptable as drunk driving. US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood supports Focus Driven and its efforts: According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, LaHood said this movement will become “an army of people traveling the countryside” to push for bans on cell phone use and tough enforcement (Schmit, 2010).

As a political advocate interested in this issue, you will be writing a policy proposal that utilizes the current research to propose a solution to the issue and submit it in this assignment.

Please note that your proposal is not an opinion/position paper,and your conclusions need to be based on the scientific research you reviewed earlier. Please follow the typical steps in proper academic writing (planning, outlining, drafting, revising, proofing, and editing) to generate the following proposal structure:

Introduction

In the introduction, you should set up the purpose for the proposal, provide a bit of background on the topic, and present your thesis.

Policy

Now that you have researched a variety of studies (in M4: Assignment 2), (use my references that have been attached) compile that information together to create a recommendation for policy makers regarding cell phone use while driving.

1: In a one-page summary, compare and contrast the results of the various studies regarding the cognitive abilities that are affected during cell phone use while driving.

2: Using that research, develop and explain particular recommendations for policy makers. For instance, restrict texting, or regulate the use of hand-held phones. All your recommendations must be supported by your research findings.

3: Based on the gaps in current research, describe the variables, populations, and situations which you would like to see future research address.

Conclusion

Review the important current research, your conclusions from that research, and how the future could look in both policy and research. Keep your goal in mind: To convince the reader to support your current policy proposal and future research to examine this issue more closely.

Your proposal should be written in APA style (which includes a title page with running header and a reference page), and free of typographical and grammatical errors. The body of your proposal should be 4–5 pages long.

The topic addressed in this module is financing international trade. One factor to consider here is the working capital guarantee program. That is, how is this program administered by outside agencies?
Your discussion topic is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Working Capital Guarantee Program administered by the Export Import Bank. Your post should demonstrate that you can conduct a scholarly dialogue, and apply one or more concepts from your readings with original analysis and interpretation.

Your assignment should be well-organized and demonstrate an orderly flow of information that clearly addresses the subject chosen.  In addition to the above criteria, your final project should include the following elements:

 

• The Community Organization: Clearly indicate the focus of the organization and the community needs that the organization. A brief historical background of the organization should also be included.
• Discuss any community partnerships that they have.  Suggest additional partnerships that you feel they should have.
• Explore how the cross-cultural challenges and humanitarian considerations are involved.
• Demonstrate how the organization uses volunteers and the economic benefits associated with this (not just “free labor”).
• Illustrate any roadblocks that the organization has faced or potential could face and how they did or might find solutions.
• Describe the organization’s vision for the future.
• Indicate what areas in which you feel the organization could improve.  What challenges (technological, political, economic, laws and regulations, community-based initiatives, educational, etc.) will they need to overcome?
• Discuss potential ways you might be able to contribute to the organization.  How could your own interests, talents, and skills benefit this organization?

   

  Note: You will need to include a minimum of ten (10) sources to support your project claims. Additionally, make sure the sources you choose are no more than five (5) years old.

  Introduction: Begin with the attention-getter, tie in the background information, and end the introduction with your thesis.

  Body:

 

• Clearly identify the topic of each section. The topic must be a statement, not a question, and should begin with your own ideas and your own words.
• After identifying your topic, use quotations or paraphrase from your sources to help illustrate the point you are making (be sure to identify the author(s) and source(s)).
• After you have given support, spend a sentence or two explaining how the example(s) support the section topic.
• A compilation of your research, your literature review, your methods,  (how the data was collected or generated and analyzed), and your results should be included in the body of your project.

  Conclusion:

 

• Restate your thesis.  This means that you say about the same thing as you did in your thesis, but you say it differently.
• After stating your thesis, restate the topics from each of your body sections and emphasize what is important for your audience/readers to remember.
• End your conclusion with a call to action that illustrates what your audience/readers should do with the information you presented.

  Please note: You will have the opportunity to revise and perfect this project, but you should do your best to make each step as complete as possible so you can receive more relevant and constructive feedback from your instructor and your peers.

Students will choose a company of their liking and use any of the 2 (qualitative or quantitative) research and analysis methods to demonstrate selected perceptions (approved by the faculty) of the company. This project requires you to research, review, and analyze perceptions of the company. Specifically, your research paper will include the following:

• Provide background information on the chosen organization
• Description of the diverse literature available on varied research methods
• Identify the type of research method to be used and justify the reasons for using a particular approach
• Undertake the research method for data collection and analysis and present the findings

Present your findings as a Word document of 5–6 pages (body of paper) formatted in APA style.

Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:

1. Title Page: Remember the Running head: AND TITLE IN ALL CAPITALS.
2. Abstract: A summary of your paper, not an introduction. Begin writing in third person voice.
3. Body: The body of your paper begins on the page following the title page and abstract page and must be double-spaced (be careful not to triple- or quadruple-space between paragraphs). The type face should be 12-pt. Times Roman or 12-pt. Courier in regular black type. Do not use color, bold type, or italics except as required for APA-level headings and references. The deliverable length of the body of your paper for this assignment is 5–6 pages. In-body academic citations to support your decisions and analysis are required. A variety of academic sources is encouraged.
4. Reference Page: References that align with your in-body academic sources are listed on the final page of your paper. The references must be in APA format using appropriate spacing, hang indention, italics, and upper and lower case usage as appropriate for the type of resource used. Remember, the Reference Page is not a bibliography but a further listing of the abbreviated in-body citations used in the paper. Every referenced item must have a corresponding in-body citation. Minimum of 2 references must be used.

Select a government or nonprofit organization with which you are familiar and a specific policy or practice within that organization. Avoid choosing an organization or agency where you currently work or have worked in the past. If you do choose such an agency, do not name it or individuals who work in it specifically. Remember to protect confidentiality.

Consider how organizational culture can influence the creation of ethical and potentially unethical policies and practices within the government or nonprofit organization you selected. Also, think about how the organizational culture might have influenced decision making and the development of specific policies and practices. Finally, consider how the specific policy or practice you selected presents an ethical dilemma and how you might resolve it by using Cooper’s ethical decision-making model from the text.

The Assignment (3–4 pages in APA format): Your paper should include the following:

• A brief description of the government or nonprofit organization
• A brief summary of how an organization’s culture can influence the creation of ethical and potentially unethical policies and practices
• An explanation of how the organization’s culture (norms, customs, and traditions) might have influenced decision making and the creation of specific policies and practices
• A description of a specific policy or practice that presents an ethical dilemma and an explanation of how that specific policy or practice creates the dilemma
• An explanation of how public administrators might use internal and external controls to maintain responsible conduct in the public organization
• An explanation of how, as a public administrator, you might resolve the ethical dilemma, using the ethical decision-making model presented in the text

Support your Assignment with specific references to all resources used in its preparation. Provide a reference list with all resources included in the paper.

Your Assignment must demonstrate both breadth and depth of knowledge and critical thinking appropriate to graduate-level scholarship. It must follow APA Publication Manual guidelines and be free of typographical, spelling, and grammatical errors. You have been approached by a potential customer who could bring considerable business. She says, “I’d like to find an alternative vendor for my future orders of 5,000/yr., but their pricing to me must be competitive.”

Your CFO has supplied you with the following information. Current product standard costs are as follows:

• $400/unit direct labor
• $200/unit variable overhead
• $200/unit fixed overhead (this figure is the result of budgeted fixed overhead of $2,000,000 and budgeted sales volume of 10,000 units)

The board of directors requests a quick but thorough presentation to determine whether taking on this potential customer is a good idea. Assume that your factory is fully operational and that you will not have any learning curve impacts. Answer the board’s following questions based on data from the CFO:

1. What is meant by budget variance?
2. What is an effective way to incorporate variance analysis into the budget process?
