Nuclear medicine is a specialized branch of modern medicine that exploits the process of radioactivity for imaging, diagnosis, and treatment. Many imaging techniques inject small amounts of radioactive material into the body, which are then tracked by a sensing device specific to the type of radiation emitted from that material. Radiation has also been used to destroy diseased tissue, typically beyond the reach of standard surgical techniques.

Using the readings for this module, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, write a paper on nuclear medicine. Address the following:

• Explain the scientific and technical concepts related to nuclear medicine. Consider the following questions when you construct your response:
  • What type of radiation is typically exploited in most nuclear medicine procedures?
  • How are patients prepared for nuclear medicine procedures?
  • What are the advantages and limitations of nuclear medicine?
  • What ailments are typically diagnosed and treated via nuclear medicine procedures?
• Evaluate a minimum of three applications of nuclear medicine relating to any of the following topics:
  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans
  • Gallium scans
  • Indium white blood cell scans
  • Iobenguane scans (MIBG)
  • Octreotide scans
  • Hybrid scanning techniques employing X-ray computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Nuclear medicine therapy using radiopharmaceuticals

We are already aware of the levels of the Legal System, namely Federal, State, Local and Administrative levels. All of these have written enactments of statutes to govern policy and conduct that they must rule upon.

1, Where do we find the Federal Statutes? What are the names of the Federal Statutes? Which of these is “official”? What does that mean?

2. Where do we find the State Statutes. What are they named in your State? The two that I most deal with are the New Hampshire Revised Statutes Annotated (RSA for short), and the Massachusetts General Laws Annotated (MGLA for short).

3. In the Federal Statutes (if you had a problem in answering question #1 above, perhaps you might find this question helpful…), you have the United States Code (U. S. C.), the United States Code Annotated (U. S. C. A.), and the United States Code Service (U. S. C. S.). Is the Law itself any different among these three publications? Where is it different? Which one, or ones, do you feel would be more helpful to you in your research? Why? Where might you find all of these books? How are they updated? Why is it extremely important to know the history of the statute, rather than just the latest version of it?

4. How are the Codes recorded into Law? Why is the date of the Law important? How might this influence our case-at-bar?

• Introductory section on the various types of critical incidents and their physical, financial, and societal effect on victims, first responders and communities and how this plan can address that impact.

• What local, state, and federal Human Service Delivery organizations you would choose to be a part of this plan and why you specifically chose these organizations.

• Outline of the specific mental health and crisis response for a critical incident discussing the various types of possible critical incidents that this plan would apply to.

• What the specific crisis response duties of those individual organizations will be in the event of a terrorist attack or major catastrophic event and how they will work with your department in responding to a critical incident.

If one organization should be the lead in the event, and how that responsibility would be decided

Many times organizations will make decisions based upon what other organizations are doing at the time or based upon the latest business trend. Think about the dot-com bubble as businesses soared and perhaps were also part of the major bust. Many organizations felt that they needed to join the crowd and have an online presence, only to realize within a couple of years that the decisions were made in haste, which resulted in many companies filing for bankruptcy. This era also had some companies that did not follow the trend only to realize within a couple of years that they were losing out on a new market, such as the online trading industry. This is why doing some research in the beginning can really help organizations make decisions based upon what is truly good for the organization.

• Why do you think managers, or business decision makers, get caught up in following the crowd versus making decisions that are truly going to add value to the business? For example, some businesses may make decisions that drive only short-term gains at the cost of future growth. Can such a blind leap be a good thing for the business? Is it worth the risk?
• How can managers ensure that they are not following a trend but instead doing what is truly best for the organization?
• Have you seen your organization make trend mistakes? What were the mistakes? How could these mistakes have been avoided or improved upon?
• How do you think business can learn from the mistakes of others or business decision mistakes such as the dot-com era?

Develop a water sustainability plan for your city, hometown, or neighborhood. The plan should include sources of pollution and ways in which you plan on addressing these sources. Present your plan to the local city council.

Develop a 7-10 slide PowerPoint Presentation to present the sustainability plan. Include the following in your presentation:

• An introduction that identifies the main challenges of managing a fresh water resource in your home town or city.

• State the activities that have impacted this local fresh water supply. Include the name of the lake or river, the specific pollution sources, and the pollutants in your presentation. Describe how these pollutants have impacted (or could impact) human health, plants, and wildlife.

• Present a plan to clean up this pollution source, prevent future pollution, and to ensure that the water source is not overdrawn enabling long-tem use. Include specific methods from your research.

• Identify at least three stakeholders in your plan (community residents, local government, businesses, non-profit organizations, etc.). Describe the local government policy that you will need in order to carry out your plan. And the role of each of the three stakeholders in ensuring that the water is used sustainably.
