Theoretical Orientation–Specific Skills

One of the hallmarks of any given theoretical orientation is the use of specific techniques. For example, psychoanalysis focuses heavily on the interpretation of dreams and client transference, cognitive-behavioral therapy utilizes the assigning of client homework, and Gestalt therapy introduced the “empty chair” technique. Given the plethora of theoretical orientations and their associated therapeutic techniques, how does a deve loping psychotherapist determine which technique is most appropriate to use? Ideally, one looks to the research literature to evaluate the empirical support for a given approach or technique.

To prepare for this Discussion, select one of the following techniques that you might be interested in using: silence, role-playing, empty chair, relaxation, imagery, or transference. Search the Walden Library and select two articles that provide empirically based support for the technique you selected.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 3 a brief description of the technique you selected and explain why you might be interested in using this technique. Then, describe the two articles you selected providing empirically based support for the technique. Describe any challenges you might encounter when attempting to use the technique you selected, and explain how you might address these challenges. Be specific.

At the start of the article, the author says “in Judaism, faith is less a matter of affirming a set of beliefs that of trust in God and fidelity to his law” (423), and he introduces the important term Halakha. 4. REVIEW the Judaism article, pp. 433-434 on Sacred Symbols – this section will help you with Dani’s description of her father’s religious practices. What memories of her father’s religious rituals bring Dani comfort? Why?

5. Is there a connection between Dani’s anxieties and her ability to believe in God?

As we have learned this week, there are many different aspects to development that we need to know when working with children from birth to age 8. We must ensure that our classrooms help to stimulate the physical, cognitive, and affective development for all students. For this assignment, you will bring together your knowledge of theories, developmental domains, and learning environments to design a learning environment. The steps for the assignment are:

Step 1: Create your learning environment 

1. 1. Access the APA template for assistance with the writing process, formatting, documentation, and citations in your written work.

 

1. Choose an age group (birth to age 2, ages 2 to 5, or ages 6 to 8) to design a learning environment for.
2. Go to the Classroom Architect website or to the Gliffy website. You will use this website to design the layout for the learning environment. When designing your layout, consider how the design you have created will support the developmental needs of your students based on the age group you chose.
3. After creating your learning environment, take a screenshot of your design. Then, copy and paste your screenshot into a Word document. If you need help taking a screenshot, please view this tutorial.

Step 2: Written support for your learning environment design

1. Introduction (one paragraph)
   • Describe the learning environment that you have designed including the setting of your learning environment (school, home daycare, center, etc.) along with the age of children with whom you will be working.
2. Physical Domain
   • Explain how your learning environment design supports the physical development of the children with whom you are working.
   • Include at least two specific examples from your design.
3. Cognitive Domain
   • Explain how your learning environment design supports the cognitive development of the children with whom you are working.
   • Include at least two specific examples from your design.
4. Affective Domain
   • Explain how your learning environment design supports the affective development of the children with whom you are working.
   • Include at least two specific examples from your design.
5. Developmental Theories
   • Discuss which of the developmental theories discussed this week are represented in the learning environment you created.
   • Include at least two specific examples from your design.
6. Conclusion (one paragraph)
   • Summarize the main points of your learning environment design and how it will support the developmental needs of your students.

Step 3: Assignment Submission

1. Submit your assignment as a two to three page Word document, not including the title and reference page.
   • Your document should include a screenshot of your classroom along with the written support for your classroom design (answering all questions from Step 2 above).

Biotechnology refers to the technical applications of living organisms or their functions. These applications may be used in engineering, medicine, or agriculture, to name a few. Biotechnology processes and procedures are varied and range from the domestication of animals to genetic engineering. At its core, biotechnology involves the modification of a biological process for a human defined purpose.
