There are several important moments in Prisoner of Azkaban where adults deliberately decide to withhold information from Harry, Hermione, and Ron, and from the students more generally. For example, no one tells Harry that Sirius Black is his godfather, nor that Sirius was accused of murdering Peter Pettigrew. No one tells him, initially, why Black is supposedly after him. More broadly, even though dementors – dangerous creatures at the best of times – are guarding Hogwarts, no one teaches the student body how to drive them off, how to protect themselves. When Harry wants that knowledge, he has to actively go after it by going to Professor Lupin. He also puts himself in danger several times because he does not have a full picture of what is happening.

For this response paper/initial post, please talk about instances where adults choose to withhold information from those who are younger and what the effects of those decisions are. Talk about the motivations the adults might have for doing so, and what both the positive and negative effects are on the young people involved. What messages does the novel convey about adult withholding of knowledge, and how adolescents do or should respond to that?

This is the third chapter of your cumulative paper on the four major learning theory categories in the psychology field. For this chapter, you will focus on cognitive information processing.

Cognitive information processing centers around the two-store memory model, where networks are formed in memory. Organization, elaboration, and rehearsal are processes that help form memory networks. The focus of cognitive information processing is the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of information and is a theory that is compatible with the findings in brain research and neuroscience.

For this paper, you are asked to examine specific aspects of the theory and compare it to the theories in your previous two chapters. Your paper should be four to five pages in length, not counting your title page or references. Papers should be double-spaced with a font size of 12 and follow APA style. Be sure to use examples from your readings and research to support your position throughout your paper. Address the following in your paper:

Summarize the major aspects of cognitive information processing.
Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of cognitive information processing, in general.
Apply cognitive information processing to a practical situation in your specialization. Describe the situation, how the theory can be applied, and what the expected outcomes would be.

The research problem can be developed from many sources. What is a source of nursing research? Identify a potential research study example from that source.

Oral Report on Scientific Paper: On the last day of class you will need to present a six slide power point to state the question or hypothesis in your scientific paper and explain figures or graph that addresses it. This should be a very short presentation of 7 minutes. The power point should be sent to me (the Professor) at least a day before the due date.

This individual assessment consists of (1) a business plan (75%), and (2) a peer evaluation and self reflection (25%). To pass the module students are required to pass both components.
