4. (10) Gif Energy expects to have earnings per share (EPS) of $1.14 next year.  They have a retention rate of 26% and their return on equity (ROE) is 15.2%.  If the investors’ required return (cost of capital) is 6.6%, find the current stock price.

5. (10) Hunt Inc. just paid a dividend of $2.60.  They expect dividends to grow at 25% for the next 2 years.  After year 2, the firm will have a retention rate of 20%.  The ROE will remain at 40%. If the required return is 17%, find the current price

Understanding supply chain and how the consumer can play a critical role in the supply chain is an important part of developing and implementing a strategy. There are many products and services today where the target customer is part of the supply chain. The Web sites Wikipedia, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and Craig’s List are just a few examples.

Using Marketing Channels and Price to Create Value for Customers

Learning Outcomes

Directions

• This assignment assesses your ability to relate marketing mix concepts of distribution and pricing to your product or service offering.  You will also have a chance to recommend new distribution and pricing strategies based on your new target market to meet their needs.

• Prepare your assignment beginning with a title page to include your name, your product or service name, and the name of your target market.  Then answer each of the following four questions in order numbering each of your responses.  There is no need to repeat the question.

1. 1. Marketing channels.  To the best of your ability, outline the marketing channels of your product or service offering as they currently exist.  Refer to Figure 6.2 for some ideas.  Most product and service offerings will have more than one channel, so your system should include at least two, for example (1)  a direct channel for internet sales:  manufacturer –> customer; and  (2) an indirect channel such as manufacturer –> distributor –> wholesaler –> retailer –> customer. If your product or service only has only a direct channel, explain why.  Would this channel strategy change as a result of your new target market?  Why or why not?
   2. Marketing channel strategy.  Why type of distribution intensity strategy does your product or service currently use?  How do you know this?  Would this distribution intensity strategy change for your new target market? Why or why not?
   3. Value chain.  Referring back to your marketing channel diagram, discuss what each member of the value chain does to bring value to the consumer.
   4. Pricing strategy.  Referring to the various pricing strategies outlined in the week’s readings, which one does your product or service currently use.  Would you recommend any changes for your new target market?  If so, how would you change it and why?

Implementing a Health Information System

A well designed health information system can lead to safer patient care and to streamlined work processes. Yet in most circumstances, the introduction of new technology brings new hurdles to overcome and can even cause staff frustration and inefficiency. This is especially true if the IT implementation strategy is not appropriately defined and planned.

Prepare for this Discussion as follows:

• Consider the types and purposes of systems that are implemented in health care organizations and the needs of the diverse stakeholders (including clinicians, staff, and patients) who use these systems.
• Select a specific type of system in a clinical or administrative area of particular interest to you. Invent a scenario in which this system is being introduced into a particular (hypothetical) health care organization, and you are a member of a cross-functional team charged with leading the system’s implementation.
• Conduct online research to find out more information, as needed, about the requirements of and challenges related to using this system.
• Think through the steps needed for a successful implementation of this system, and anticipate likely obstacles, both technical and human, in the implementation phase. For your scenario, what would your implementation plan include?
