Analyze the Pros and Cons of Unionization to Develop a Negotiation PlaN

With the retirement of the Chief Labor Counsel, you have been promoted to the new position of Chief Labor Negotiator. The not-for-profit facility on the east side of town has successfully unionized. The administrative staff is divided on the topic of welcoming the union into your facility with some working diligently to stay union-free.

In a paper, address the following:

1. Validate the approaches that management can implement to successfully work with a new union.
2. Prepare to negotiate a first collective bargaining agreement that has positive features for both the union and management.
3. Analyze necessary methods to ensure that a final contract has important protections for workers as well as protecting the rights of management to operate its facility.
4. Identify specific topics to be included in a contract.

Based on the readings and your own practical experience, develop a response for the Chief Executive Officer that addresses the following:

1. Determine the pros and cons of unionization at your hospital, taking into account the above considerations.
2. Discuss in detail the advantages and disadvantages of each scenario.
3. Make a firm conclusion as to your recommendation for moving forward.

Then, complete a self-reflection and address the following:

1. Based on your promotion to this position, what resources and entities would you enlist to assist you in the process? How might they have affected your success?
2. Provide a summary paragraph with your self-reflection.

Support your paper with a minimum of three resources, which may include your required text. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.

The most effective performance evaluation systems are those that focus on identifying, measuring, and improving upon employee performance. In a two- to three-page paper (not including the title and reference pages) you must:

1. Explain the intent of performance evaluations within an organization.
2. Describe the general process an organization should follow in developing/utilizing its performance evaluation tool.
3. Describe the traits/characteristics of an effective performance management/appraisal process.

Individual Reflection: Blueprint for Professional and Personal Growth—Managing Business Information Systems, Executive Summary of Class and Collaboration Skills

As you begin this Assignment, review the broad range of topics presented throughout the course related to managing business information systems. Clearly, eight weeks does not provide enough time to explore all the topics of this course as deeply as you might have liked. For this Individual Reflection, select concepts or topics that resonated with you during this course and commit to learning more about them. To bring this commitment to life, identify concrete action items that will support your goal to deepen your personal learning experience in the coming year. Then, consider the following:

• What can you do now to integrate the experiences and insights you had in this course with your personal and professional development goals?
• What are the most important things you are taking from this course that will shape your future and enable you to make a positive difference?

The Assignment

All components of the Assignment must be turned in as one document:

1. The Executive Summary: Write an Executive Summary of the course (2–3 paragraphs) that addresses the following questions:

• Which content and assignments in this course improved your understanding of managing business information systems within your chosen organization?
• What impact has your improved understanding had or do you anticipate it will have on the value you will bring to your role within an organization?

As a public health professional, it is likely that you will conduct focus groups as part of community health assessments. Focus groups are useful when exploring community issues and developing good survey questions. As with all research, planning the focus group is important so that the data you seek can be easily and reliably collected and will yield valid results. A focus group protocol is created to describe all planned procedures. It serves as a road map to the public health professional detailing what he or she plans to do when conducting a particular focus group.
