Given the hypothesis high employee satisfaction is correlated with low employee absenteeism, address the following in your paper this week:

• Identify the variables in this study. What are some extraneous variables that might impact your research? How would you control for extraneous variables?
• Which research design would you use to study this hypothesis and why?
• What data collection techniques would you use to study this hypothesis and why?
• Assuming that you get a correlation of r = -.70, what does this tell you about the strength and direction of the correlation between satisfaction and absenteeism?
• What are some potential problems you might encounter, and what strategies would you use to minimize these problems?

For this assignment, you will be taking a step back to reflect on all of the information contained in your procedures manual. You will develop an abstract that highlights the information contained in the procedures manual and that is 150–300 words. Next, in recognizing that one your procedures manual audiences is the advanced or experienced staff member wanting a quick method for looking up information, you are tasked with developing a quick reference guide. You may use lists, tables, and references to pages in the procedures manual for more detail. The quick reference guide should be no more than 5 pages and can be as few as 2 pages.

Follow these steps for this assignment:

1. Update the procedures manual document title page with a new date and the project name.
2. Update previously completed sections based on instructor feedback.

It should include a section on how the supervisor should or should not handle certain gender-based workplace issues. You made it!  You received your master’s degree in Human Resource Management, and now it’s time for you to start seeking career opportunities.  At this point, you may be a little confused as to what areas you should focus on in HR since your experience may be limited.  Imagine that a friend shares with you that he/she has a small but rapidly growing business which is in need of an HR department.  He has asked you to be the HR Manager.  Your friend mentioned that he / she previously worked with an HR consultant, but now has close to 100 employees with no definite, dedicated HR department, and really needs your assistance.  Although you are nervous, you realize that it’s now time for you to show your skills and put all your years of studying into action.

 

Select an existing small company in an industry you are familiar with to be the basis of the small business in this case.  Review the company’s structure, culture, business strategy, mission, and vision.

 

Write a five to six (5-6) APA 6^th ed page paper in which you (Question then answer/Cite work):

1. Provide a brief summary, in your own words, of your selected company’s overall business strategy.  Next, determine the direction you visualize the company growing within the next five (5) to ten (10) years.  Hint:  Review the common business strategies of Cost Leadership, Differentiation and Focus or Niche on p. 50 of your text (see pg. 5 below).
2. Design a human resource management strategy to support your selected company’s business strategy.  Explain the competitive advantage of your HRM strategy.  Hint:  Review the following common human resource management strategies of Loyal Soldier, Bargain Laborer, Committed Expert and Free Agent from previous courses.
3. Develop an HR Scorecard table for your selected company.  Include the four (4) dimensions (i.e., financial, customer service, internal process, and learning / growth / sustainability).  Next, assess the value of your proposal to the small business in each of these dimensions.  Hint:  Review the video titled “Building the Human Resources Performance Measurement Scorecard” (4 min 1 s) located at for additional guidance in creating an HR Scorecard.

Biotechnology refers to the technical applications of living organisms or their functions. These applications may be used in engineering, medicine, or agriculture, to name a few. Biotechnology processes and procedures are varied and range from the domestication of animals to genetic engineering. At its core, biotechnology involves the modification of a biological process for a human defined purpose.

Assignment 2: LASA 1 – Coercive Interrogations

 

You are a forensic psychologist working with Forensic Consultants, Inc. An attorney is using your services as a consultant in a case. During a meeting with the attorney, the attorney tells you that the client, while undergoing police interrogation, confessed to murder. When the attorney asked the client, the client reported to being not guilty.

 

As you conduct a preliminary investigation, draw up a plan on how you will assist your the attorney with this case. The plan should answer the following questions posed by the attorney:

 

What specific factors about police interrogative tactics do you think will be important to the defense strategy? Discuss interrogation tactics that lead to false confession, specifying at least two examples and explain the reason they are considered coercive. Include information about how this would look in an actual interrogation and how the client experienced this behavior.

Will you look for any specific personality characteristics in the client? What are they and why will they help or hurt your case? Are issues of competency going to come up? Discuss information about what types of people are more at risk with coercive interrogation tactics. Include at least one research study that has demonstrated this risk.

What type of personality assessment instrument will you want to use to either identify or rule out the characteristics listed in question 2? Be specific and support your answer: Identify at least one psychological test that can be used and include information on why it would be useful in determining whether a person was vulnerable.

 

Based on the client’s response to police interrogation, how should you conduct your interview? Specifically, what should you avoid when attempting to gather accurate information from the client?

In this Module we learned about the three types of multiple murders: Serial, mass or spree  murders. Choose one case of multiple murder (either serial, mass or spree). Research the case online (do not use Wikipedia as anything other than a jumping off point) and write a paper summarizing the case. Present this summary in the form of a 3-5 page paper which will be used as a supplemental reading in a class on criminal behavior.  In the paper:

 

Provide a detailed description of the case and the type of multiple murder it signifies. Use at least three sources beyond your online notes and assigned textbook.

Discuss the reasoning for the crime according to the offender (if available) or other sources

Analyze the case in light of at least two psychological theories that may explain or add to the understanding of the event or case

Draw a conclusion about the psychological causes of this crime.

 

Remember, this paper will be assigned as required reading for another class, so make sure that you appropriately define all of the psychological terms that you use as if you were writing for someone who does not have any background in the subject.
