You will investigate and develop a list of potential fieldwork locations for observing and talking with forensic psychology professionals. Develop a list of at least three potential placements. There is a wide range of professionals who work within the legal and correctional systems. Your interaction with these professionals can be face-to-face, as with a tour of a facility or an interview, or it can occur over the phone when face-to-face meetings are not practical.

 

Identify Potential Fieldwork Locations

In this module, you will investigate and identify options for observing and discussing with professionals on various aspects of forensic psychology at work in the legal system. The fieldwork observation can occur at a variety of facilities and with a range of professionals, including, but not limited to, the following:

• • Forensic psychology professionals in private practice
  • Forensic psychology professionals working in a correctional setting
  • Mental health professionals in facilities providing forensic services such as community-based treatment for offenders or crisis centers accepting involuntarily admitted patients
  • Attorneys who work with forensic psychology professionals as in family law, personal injury for psychological damages, or with issues of competency and criminal responsibility
  • Police departments

Note: Some police departments may only use psychology professionals on a consulting basis. Therefore, it would be helpful to inquire at the local police agency about whether it has a psychology professional among the staff or whether it uses one as a consultant for preemployment evaluations. You may also want to speak with polygraph administrators who assess offenders.

• Mental health professionals at juvenile detention centers and mental health professionals who provide services to victims of abuse and sexual assault in public and private agencies
• Polygraph administrators who assess offenders
• Mental health professionals who work with children and adolescents involved in the legal system, such as juvenile courts

Tasks:

In a minimum of 250 words, respond to the following:

APA formatting You are a consultant specializing in policy analysis. Also, the largest health care corporation that owns two of the three medical centers in her catchment area, and which supported her in her last bid for election with campaign funds at the allowable limit, is threatening to refuse Medicare and Medicaid patients to ensure survival in the bad economy. An increase in unfunded mandates for urgent care may push this corporation into private payer only, and Congresswoman Moody is aware that there are enough affluent families in the area to support two facilities providing only designer medicine and concierge services. All options must: Be within the power of Congresswoman Moody to do Be consistent with Congresswoman Moody�s values, and Address the issue identified in the problem statement You will: Identify 3�5 options for Congresswoman Moody�s consideration Identify criteria that will be used to evaluate the options Identify pros and cons for each option Use a side-by-side table (MS� Excel� would be appropriate for this) to assist in analyzing the options.

Without your own understanding of the purpose of suffering, crisis responders cannot truly offer emotional and spiritual care in disasters and provide comfort and direction to others in their suffering and pain. Compile an original paper of 12 pages of body text, in current APA style that begins by explaining your own personal theology of suffering. Use commentary and biblical references to support your position. In addition, explain how you would consult with a congregation to set up a plan of preparation for pre-incidence disasters. Utilizing information presented in your textbooks as well as theoretical and practical elements from academic and Christian sources, describe how you would foster resiliency in the pastor and the congregation. A minimum of 10 scholarly sources (books and journal articles) is required in addition to your textbooks, if you choose to cite these. Grades will be assigned based on the quality of content, how well APA guidelines are adhered to, the richness of citations utilized, quality of expression, and biblical integration presented.

 

Write a research paper of 10–12 pages of body text (not counting your title page, abstract, and works cited pages) discussing, in APA format, some major aspect of spirituality/Christianity and some aspect of trauma, as described below. Please don’t provide just a secular viewpoint or just a spiritual perspective. Integrate them using journal articles or book chapters on the topics as sources. Cite everything. Balance the paper with both a biblical worldview and theoretical perspectives.

Choose one of the options.

1. Discuss traumatic effects and responses and many of its related difficulties as well as recommended treatment options, together with spirituality in general. Incorporate a biblical worldview throughout. Use current (8 years or less) research and the Bible to support your approach.

   or

2. Choose one or several types of traumatic event (natural disaster, domestic violence, sexual assault or abuse, motor vehicle accidents, etc.) and discuss appropriate assessment and treatment options. Use current research and the Bible to support your discussion.

    

   The two options are similar with the exception that one is a general approach and the other applies your examination to a specific area.

• Length of paper: 10–12 pages – Points will be deducted if the paper is less than 10 pages or exceeds 12 pages.  (Excluding title page, abstract and references.)
• Include at least 10 current references (within the last 8 years) – points will be deducted for each missing current reference.
• Follow APA style.  Review rubric for guidance.
• Paper will ^be graded on thoroughness, content, and use of theoretical material and integration of biblical perspective.
