NOTE: You are not comparing two genres – for instance: don’t compare Rock to Classical. Rather choose a song from each and compare them (eg. “Elenor Rigby” by the Beatles and the first movement of “Winter” by Vivaldi). These two pieces both open with a cold, barren haunting introduction. They use sparse texture to convert a cold and lonely environment.
Any genre differences will come out automatically in describing each piece.
This assignment should be two-three pages in length (double-spaced of course). The hardest part will likely be in choosing the material.
